Policy Hub
European media organizations are increasingly being asked to contribute to the development of regulations, frameworks, funding agendas and public discourse in reaction to emerging, innovative and sometimes fast-spreading technologies and business models. This is best achieved by coordinating across the whole radio and audiovisual sectors, including a broad range of stakeholders who otherwise only rarely collaborate on these policy topics.
MediaRoad’s Policy Hub will create an ecosystem for the development of a long-term policy vision for the whole European media sector, focusing on audiovisual, radio and social media. It will achieve this through a series of consultations, targeted workshops, reports and research updates, with input from the Sandbox Hub and Network Hub activities. The actions will address a stakeholder pool including broadcasters, technology companies, social media providers, production companies, journalists, policy experts and research institutes.
The broad scope of the participant and stakeholder pool will ensure policy and research collaboration occurs across the media landscape - from technology, content production, social media and research - and include existing and emerging players. This is crucial to ensure policy responses comprehensively address the effects of media convergence.
Based on input gathered from participants and stakeholders, the Hub will provide short- and mid-term input to policy-makers at EU and national level, and enable the formulation of policy requests on behalf of the whole sector. The Hub will therefore provide analysis, advice and a roadmap for a highly dynamic field of policy development. The rapidly changing context of cultural and audiovisual developments, markets and policies, generating both challenges and opportunities, is prone to expert analysis covering multiple dimensions from different angles.
