Subcommittee on Queer People | of the Joint Board-Senate Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee (EDIC)
The Subcommittee on Queer People of the EDIC - Joint Board-Senate Committee works to ensure equity for 2SLGBTQIA+ people at McGill University.
The Subcommittee on Queer People is one of six subcommittees that reports directly to the EDIC - Joint Board-Senate Committee, along with the subcommittees on: First Peoples, Racialized and Ethnic Persons, Persons with Disabilities, Women, and Family Care.
The Subcommittee on Queer People has a mandate as an advisory body, such that it functions to make recommendations to University Senate for changes and improvements which need to be implemented on campus in order to ensure equity for all members of McGill's community.
In this role, the Subcommittee on Queer People addresses systemic issues of representation, inclusion and support for two-spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, asexual, non-binary, and gender non-conforming members of the University with respect to academic and non-academic life on campus.
The Subcommittee on Queer People is comprised of individuals from all colours of the rainbow including academics (professors and librarians), staff, graduate and undergraduate students, and other members of Montréal's larger academic community.
The Subcommittee on Queer People meets twice a semester to discuss new ways of advancing equity and improving queer life on campus.
