Antiques and Collectibles show

• Armada Historical Society hosting “Show Us What You Got”  Antiques and Collectibles Show from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Oct. 12 and 13 at the Grange Hall on the Armada Fair Grounds, 74280 Fair Street, Armada. See what people have a passion for collecting as well as items from the Armada Area Historical Society’s collection. Antiques Roadshow style valuations will take place from noon-4 p.m. Sunday. Art Guild meeting

• Washington Art Guild meets Oct. 7 at Romeo Community Center, 361 Morton Street, in the North Room. Please use the Morton Street parking lot and enter the building through the door on the right, which is on the northeast corner of the building. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for refreshments and socializing. Business meeting at 7 p.m. Session is a workshop.  Attendees working on pictures that will later be displayed at the Romeo Graubner Library.  Canvases will be provided for free (approximately 8”x10” size).  Bring your paints and painting supplies (watercolor artists:  please bring a medium to attach your watercolor paper to the canvas or wood, or a medium to prepare your canvas).

Baby shower event

• Right to Life of Michigan Macomb Educational Resource Center will be collecting baby items from noon-3 p.m. Oct. 19  during a drop off open house baby shower to benefit local pregnancy help centers.  There will be refreshments, and drawings for gift baskets. Blood drive

• Henry Ford Macomb Hospital will host a blood drive from 9 a.m.-2 p.m.  Oct. 18, in conference room 3 on the fourth floor of the hospital’s Medical Pavilion, located at 16151 19 Mile Road in Clinton Township. To schedule an appointment to donate blood, call (866) MIBLOOD (642-5663) or visit versiti.org/MI.

Bottle and can drive

• Woman’s Life Chapter 855 conducts a continuous bottle and can drive with drop off locations in Richmond and Memphis to help those in the community in need. They also offer a pick up service for larger donations. For more information, call 586-318-4053.

Chili Cook Off

• Father Kramer Knights of Columbus Council 2835 hosting third annual Chili Cook Off noon-3 p.m. Oct. 12 at Cloverleaf Bar and Restaurant, 24443 Gratiot Avenue, Eastpointe. Event is free to enter one crock pot of chili and any toppings for your display. Costs $5 to taste. Proceeds benefit Knights of Columbus charities.  To enter contact Greg Childs

Euchre event

• Sterling Heights Lions Club host euchre tournament Oct. 11 at their clubhouse, 12828 Canal Road, Sterling Heights. Food distribution event

•Hope for the Hungry Food Pantry through St. Peter Lutheran Church of Macomb will distribute food from 1-2 p.m. Oct. 17 at 24125 26 Mile Road, Ray Township. This will be a drive-thru event and those getting food are asked to show their driver’s license or state ID card. You should park in a parking spot in the west parking lot and wait to be checked in. Fundraising events

• Comedy and Cocktails, an annual benefit for the Macomb Community College’s  arts and cultural programs will take place Friday, Oct. 18, at the Lorenzo Cultural Center and Macomb Center for the Performing Arts, located on the college’s Center Campus in Clinton Township. Starts at Lorenzo Cultural Center at 6 p.m. with music by the Kroon Trio, gourmet appetizers, strolling dinner stations, a silent auction with mobile bidding and raffle prizes. The event will feature a 1950s comedy club theme. At 8 p.m., guests will move to the Macomb Center and take their reserved seats to see comedians Colin Mochrie and Brad Sherwood in Asking for Trouble, an unscripted improvisational comedy show. Tickets are $175 each and include premiere theater seating at the Macomb Center. •The Butterfly Collective is hosting a fundraiser “Dueling Pianos” from 6-10 p.m. Oct. 18 at Fraternal Order of Police #124, located at 11304 14 Mile Road, Warren. Event includes live entertainment, silent auction, raffles, appetizers and guest speakers. Tickets are $65 per person or $100 per couple and can be purchased online at  Thebutterflycollective.org. The Butterfly Collective is a  nonprofit organization that helps domestic violence survivors in southeast Michigan to rebuild their lives.

Garden Club event

• Shelby Gardeners Club hosts David Löwenstein , PhD at 1 p.m. Oct. 10 at the Shadbush Nature Center, 4101 River Bends Drive, Shelby Township. Lowenstein will present ‘Making Your Garden A Haven for Beneficial Insects’ and will explain how to nurture and sustain to keep them returning. Gem Show

•79th Annual Greater Detroit Gem, Mineral & Fossil Show 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Oct. 11; 9 a.m.- 6 p.m. Oct. 12 and 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Oct. 13 at Macomb Community College South Campus/Expo Center,  14500 East 12 Mile Road, Warren. Attendees can save money if tickets are purchased online in advance of the show. Advance online tickets are available for $3 – $8 per person, with door prices ranging from $3 – $9 per person. HarvestFest event

• Macomb County HarvestFest event noon-5 p.m. Oct. 19 and 20 at Freedom Hill County Park  Pavilion, 14900 Metro Parkway, Sterling Heights.  HarvestFest features safe Trick or Treating stations, hayrides, Inflatable Zone, movies, music, magic, Children’s Airbrush Tattoo artist, Pumpkin Patch, Professional Pumpkin Carvers, Birds of Prey Show, Reptile Show, Food Drive, Food Trucks and more. Tickets are $8 per person, children under 3 are free in advance online at macombcountyharvestfest.com or at the gate for $10 per person with only cash, Venmo and Cash App accepted at the gate. Parking is $5 per vehicle. Active and retired service members with their military identification are not required to pay admission

Historical Society event

Greater Washington Area Historical Society hosting at  ‘Clearance Used Book Sale’ 1-4 p.m. Oct. 13 at their museum located at 58230 Van Dyke Washington Township. Books for children, cooking, health & fitness, novels, and misc. subjects will be available for $5 a bag! Proceeds will benefit the operating fund at the museum. Oktoberfest

•St. Josaphat Ukrainian Catholic Church hosting Oktoberfest 2024 from 5:30-10 p.m. Oct. 19 at St. Josaphat Banquet Centre, 24460 Ryan Road, Warren. For those age 21 and older. Live band, German foods, Cash bar. German beers, Ukrainian Beers, Domestic beers, Wine and liquor. Door prizes, raffles and games. • Packard Proving Grounds Historical Speaker Series  ‘White Hurricane of 1913’ 1-2 p.m. Oct. 27 at  4995  Van Dyke, Shelby Township. Delve into the history of this once in a lifetime tempest and learn how it affected Michigan and the nation.  Event is free for members or $5 for not yet members.
