We’re glad you’re considering visiting the University of Houston Law Center! Before applying, please carefully read the following admissions policies to fully understand the eligibility requirements. You may submit your visiting application online via LSAC’s website.
Students in good standing at another ABA-accredited law school may apply to visit the University of Houston Law Center and apply any earned credits toward degree requirements at their home school. You must have permission from your current law school. The Law Center has one of the largest curriculums in the country, including nationally-recognized specialty programs. Students from across Texas and the U.S. visit our law school for 1-2 semesters to take advantage of our curricular strengths in areas such as health law, energy and environmental law, intellectual property, international law; to take courses in Texas law; to begin building their network in the Houston market; or simply to be closer to family.

*Current Law Center students have priority at registration. Visiting students should submit primary and alternate course selections to their home school when seeking approval of potential credits. Visiting students are not permitted to register for first-year courses.
J.D./LL.M. Dual Degree
The Law Center offers a joint J.D./LL.M. degree program which allows students to earn both degrees in 3.5 years (105 credit hours). Students who visit the Law Center may be eligible to participate in the program through the LL.M. Visitor Program. A visiting student to the JD program can apply only after a minimum of 12 credits have been completed and reported at the Law Center. Students in the joint program must complete an additional fifteen UHLC credits after graduating from the home law school to obtain the LL.M. degree. Joint degree students must meet all J.D. requirements (from home law school) and UHLC LL.M. degree requirements in order to complete the program. LL.M. specialty programs eligible for the joint program include: Energy, Environment and Natural Resources Law, Health Law, Intellectual Property & Information Law, International Law, and Tax Law.
