Top 10 hotels in Ibiza

Discover the top hotels in Ibiza handpicked by local expert Jessica Benavides Canepa.
Jessica Benavides Canepa
27 November 2024

Known globally as the hedonistic wild child of the Balearic Islands, Ibiza has more to offer than round-the-clock revelry. On the flip side, this island boasts secluded coves, first-rate gastronomy, and a rich cultural heritage. Based in Spain for over five years, I visit often to de-stress and recharge. My idea of paradise is walking around the fortified old town or doing yoga amongst nature. But when it's time to switch gears, I enjoy the evening bustle of Ibiza Town's main square or embrace the party scene in and around Playa d'en Bossa. Since the island's hedonistic heyday, Ibiza's hotel options have evolved. Nowadays, travellers seek quiet alternatives far removed from the noise. Whether you're looking for a grand luxury resort, an after-party crash pad, or an intimate boutique setting, here are my picks for the best hotels in Ibiza.

1.

Agroturismo Atzaró

Address:

Carretera San Juan, km 15

Price:

£213-£902/night

Travellers seeking refuge from the island's seasonal party pace can recharge at Agroturismo Atzaro, a rustic 300-year-old property three miles from the city centre. Every inch of the 13-hectare hotel radiates nature, most notably at the lush multi-sensory gardens and spa zone.

Among the best hotels in Ibiza for couples, rooms are equipped with welcome treats in bespoke spaces furnished with romantic dark wood headboards, beams, or four-poster beds backdropped by whitewashed walls and colourful regional artwork. La Veranda restaurant, a notable highlight, flavours local meat and fish with garden-fresh fruits and veggies.

The relaxing vibe continues with the amenities, which include daily yoga classes and boat and land excursions. For the ultimate indulgence, I recommend a swim in the 43-metre pool followed by a herb-infused oil massage treatment and a daybed lounge scented with fragrant lavender and orange trees.

2.

Montesol Experimental Ibiza

Address:

Passeig de Vara de Rey 2

Price:

£117-£814/night

Montesol Experimental Ibiza attracts those looking for exceptional lodgings in the heart of the action. That’s largely due to the hotel’s prime location, surrounded by the tree-sprinkled Vara del Rey square right in the centre of Ibiza Town.

The UNESCO World Heritage site of Dalt Vila, Ibiza’s fortified old town, and the Port – two of my favourite landmarks – are a brisk stroll away. Bohemian in look and feel, the 33-room hotel is filled with quirky design touches. The clean and comfy guestrooms, meanwhile, are whimsically adorned with asymmetric furnishings and a mishmash of hues and textiles.

When not out exploring, I like to alternate between people-watching from Cafe Montesol's outdoor space or heading to The Rooftop Bar, with its impressive old town views. Better still, both areas serve classic Mediterranean bites and must-try signature cocktails.

3.

Mirador de Dalt Vila

Address:

Plaza de España, 4

Price:

£241-£9,332/night

Experience Ibiza like nobility at the 12-room Mirador de Dalt Vila, located inside the walled-in old town. This stately townhouse, built in 1904, is the perfect choice for history buffs. It retains hints of its former glory through a classic decor updated with modern technology for optimum comfort.

The hotel's diminutive size doesn’t allow for many communal amenities. However, a small first-floor pool and the Can Font restaurant offer a convivial, tranquil setting, with the latter overlooking the quaint Plaza de Espana. The little eatery is a superb spot for a coffee break and a think about the day's agenda.

One of the best hotels in Ibiza, if you’re celebrating a special occasion, the Grand Suite is the room to book, thanks to its private terrace with hot tub. Central Ibiza is a convenient short drive away, with cultural landmarks like the 13th-century Catedral d'Eivissa readily accessible on foot.

4.

The Standard, Ibiza

Address:

Carrer de Bartomeu Vicent Ramon 9

Price:

£106-£884/night

If hanging out in relaxed, urban settings is your cup of tea, then The Standard Ibiza is a top choice among the best hotels in Ibiza. Surrounded by a host of restaurants, bars, and boutiques in central Ibiza town, this hotel – ironically the tamest from the party-loving American brand – fits right into the scene and often steals the spotlight with its lively lineup of live music and pop-up events.

Built on six floors, the minimalist rooms, 67 in all, contrast the more vibrantly decorated restaurants: Jara, lined with green leaf motif banquettes with matching velvet curtains, and the rooftop UP, a floral fantasy overlooking an elevated pool.

One of the best hotels to stay in Ibiza, I recommend coming for the scene, and especially for the creative cocktails.

5.

Hacienda Na Xamena

Address:

Urbanizacion na Xamena Buzon 11

Price:

£396-£916/night

Distinguished as the first 5-star hotel on the island, Hacienda Na Xamena leads the pack as far as luxury hotels in Ibiza go. It also continues a growing trend of travellers preferring to stay in accommodations far removed from the party scene.

Located cliffside and close to the lovely San Miguel village, the hotel overlooks a natural park, pine-peppered forests, and the sea – a photo opportunity if ever there was one.

The property's design aesthetic is boho-chic with eclectic flourishes, and you’ll find three pools, outdoor games, kids' amenities, and a spa on site. But with such spectacular views, who cares what you do as long as you're doing it here. Aside from taking countless selfies and trying the fresh seasonal dishes at Eden restaurant, my advice is to stop whatever you're doing at sundown and just take it all in.

6.

Tropicana Ibiza Suites - Adults Only

Address:

Deessa Tanit, nº 10-12

Price:

£54-£359/night

One of the best hotels in Ibiza, Tropicana Ibiza Suites is an Art Deco, Miami-inspired fantasy come to life. Love the look or hate it (I love it!), travellers are seldom indifferent to the pop of pastels dominating this hotel's walls and furnishings.

Kitsch is king and fun is your friend at this adult-only stay, featuring flamingos galore and a martini glass-shaped poolside shower. A five-minute jaunt to Ibiza's Playa d'en Bossa's infamous clubs, this property is suited to travellers seeking a faster pace.

When tired from partying, the pool/bar/reception area is the social nucleus of the space, with daily DJ sessions. All 30 rooms are bright and spacious and come with Smeg fridges filled with local treats and full-sized alcohol bottles for when it's time to restart the celebration. I don't party like I used to, but when the mood strikes, this gem is my hotel of choice.

7.

ME Ibiza

Address:

Urbanización S'Argamassa, 153

Price:

£48-£1,426/night

Set by the sea and a short car ride away from nighttime revelry or cultural pursuits, ME Ibiza may be the most perfectly placed hotel on the island. Besides an occasional pop of vivid colour, the property tends to lean towards a serene, beachy vibe with its Moorish throw pillows and hanging rattan chairs. And, with a sizable master pool and a dedicated kids’ club, it’s a great contender when considering the best hotels in Ibiza for families.

Aside from the central pool, a collection of plunge pools and cushy Balinese beds reside at the adults-only rooftop bar (where you'll find me, as I don't have kiddos). Time and interest permitting, try aerial yoga or simply enjoy a quiet moment. Guestrooms maintain the property's airy aesthetic, while the Thai Room Spa offers a range of organic massages (anything from their Ayurvedic selection is amazing) and a fabulous indoor circuit pool.

8.

Bless Hotel Ibiza

Address:

Cala Nova - Es Canar

Price:

£235-£2,141/night

Chic and stylish are two words that come to mind when describing Bless Hotel Ibiza, a 151-room stunner that surprisingly never feels too crowded. This posh hotel is an obvious pick for any list of the best hotels in Ibiza.

Located in Es Canar on the northern side of the island, the monochromatic design is accented by dabs of colour, save for the Michelin-starred ETXEKO restaurant, panelled with wood and gold-plated accessories. Here, either of the two tasting menus is strongly recommended, as Martin Berasategui is one of the top chefs in Spain, with no fewer than 12 Michelin stars.

The Llum Premium Pool Club and Epic Infinity Lounge round out the property's culinary offerings, showcased in photo-ready outdoor spaces. For the full-on Bless experience, book a signature massage at the sublime Beldon Wellness Soulful Spa. The deep tissue Ritual Travel Restore was my pick during a recent visit.

9.

Nobu Hotel Ibiza Bay

Address:

Cami Ses Feixes 52

Price:

£301-£3,911/night

When entering Nobu Hotel Ibiza Bay, the first thing you notice are the quintessential island views from the open-plan lobby. From there, I could see yachts dotting Talamanca Bay and fellow travellers lounging on poolside cabanas or the private stretch of beach.

As the chillout music played from invisible speakers and a staff member handed me a welcome drink, everything about this scene felt like it could only be found in Ibiza. Rooms, decorated in whites, wicker, and dashes of blue and green, have varying views depending on the category, though all guests can enjoy the scene from the rooftop.

One of the best hotels in Ibiza, naturally the cuisine is top-notch here. If you haven't tried it yet, you can't leave without sampling the hotel's version of Nobu's famous Omakase menu. If sushi isn’t your thing, Chambao, the second on-site restaurant, serves paella and pizza overlooking the sea.

10.

7Pines Resort Ibiza

Address:

Calle Puig Delfin

Price:

£319-£877/night

Perched atop a cliff boasting panoramic sunset views over the island and the emblematic rocky islet Es Vedra, the all-suite 7Pines Resort is hands down one of the best hotels in Ibiza. Neighbouring a tiny bay, the sublime Cala Comte is a few minutes further on foot.

All other areas start at 15 minutes away by car. Still, the subtle serenity of the suites and common areas feel more like a small community than a hotel, with everything you need to de-stress and re-energize right here. All the rooms have a crisp, airy vibe, but if you're looking for something special, opt for a private pool or a sea-facing suite.

Of the two pools on offer, I recommend the glistening infinity pool, complete with a chiringuito – a beach-style bar offering drinks and snacks. At mealtimes, choose between sharing tapas with signature cocktails or catch-of-the-day seafood cooked on a Japanese-style robata grill.
