About Us
Since 1934, the Johnson City Press has served readers in Northeast Tennessee with daily news, sports and features, and advertisers with multiple avenues to distribute their message.
The newspaperâs longtime motto, âWhat the people donât know WILL hurt them,â remains the heart of our mission. Our team is committed to keeping readers informed about local matters that impact their lives most â government, business, education, health care, law enforcement and more. Personal stories and a variety of perspectives characterize each edition.
The Pressâ core coverage areas extend beyond Johnson City, Jonesborough and Washington County into the surrounding communities that make our metropolitan region. We also maintain a close eye on state, national and international issues, particularly in how they relate to and affect our local way of life.
As a unit of Six Rivers Media, LLC, the Johnson City Press is a locally owned and managed publication. Alongside the Kingsport Times News, The Herald and Tribune in Jonesborough, The Erwin Record, The Tomahawk in Mountain City and Six Rivers Digital, the Press is dedicated to community involvement and the success of the Appalachian Highlands region.
