Measuring
the Internet
Increasing the Internet’s reach, reliability, and resilience is critical to our everyday lives.
We need accurate data and analysis to understand how the Internet is evolving to protect it from the forces that threaten it. Internet Society Pulse consolidates trusted, third-party Internet data into a single website.
Pulse examines global Internet trends to help journalists, policymakers, civil society organizations, and everyone in between understand the Internetâs availability, evolution, and resilience. We currently present metrics on critical Internet technologies, Internet Exchange Points, Internet resilience, Internet shutdowns, and market concentration.
Addressing Global Inequality
Because we can’t have a thriving Internet without reliable data on the forces shaping it, we’re:
- Adding new sources to Pulse and developing more partnerships with data providers and researchers to expand its dataset accuracy and coverage
- Presenting more data visualizations, in-depth analysis, and data-driven stories
- Initiating the Open Fibre Data Standard (OFDS) and developing a sustainable approach to its maintenance.
