approach

Design

Aesthetics are important to humans. We all love nice things. They are representative of our values. Values are beautiful because they define our actions through life.

Different humans have different ideas on what's beautiful and what's not. They are based on culture, surroundings, education... Something that's beautiful to a truck driver from Sweden might not be so appealing to a mathematician from Tokyo.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Why?

The main objective of design is to convey the message to the audience, and to evoke an emotion.

Design uses visual tools to make stuff easier to understand, to remove friction between the sender and the receiver, to get the message accross as clear as possible.

We are not our target audience. That's why we spend a lot of time understanding the real audience, talking to them. We'll put ourselves in their shoes.

Design is solving problems. That's what we do.

Tools

A number of principles and techniques emerged over time that help deliver messages more effectively. Gestalt principles, color theory, compositional techniques, motion, storytelling. We'll pick and choose between them as needed to to get the job done.

Together

Design doesn't happen in the vacuum. Our design team will work closely with the client (that's you) and other team members (ux, content, development, strategy) to figure out the best solution for the challenge at hand. We'll also keep feasibility in mind, making sure implementation fits into the available timeframe and budget.

Websites need to be pretty, right?

Customers will love you for it and the competition will die of envy. Or not.

Process

We'll start by sketching ideas and discussing them with you. We like to include you in the process as early as possible. Just make sure to put your conceptual glasses on and be ready for the raw stuff, because that's what those drafts are gonna be like.

Iteration is the name of the game. Instead of going for one big polished release, we'll do a lot of smaller incremental improvements.

Depending on the project, we might test a design iteration on a sample of your audience. We'll observe how they use it and ask questions. And then we'll iterate, again.

Our design team will be keeping an eye on your project all the way through implementation, making sure the final product is spot on.
