It's still a long seven months until the launch of Chip and Joanna Gaines's much-anticipated Magnolia TV network. (Time, go faster.) But the design power-couple just gave us a taste of what to expect when the big reveal arrives.
Jo announced the new series Growing Floret exclusively in People magazine last week, promising its programming will inspire viewers to chase "big dreams for the right reasons." The show will follow Erin Benzakein, the founder of Floret Flower Farm, on her year-long quest to build a sustainable organic flower farm in Washington state.
On Instagram, Jo shared a trailer for the new series, introducing viewers to Erin, her husband Chris, and their flower farm. In the trailer, Erin expresses both excitement and apprehension at expanding the farm from 2 acres to 20 acres. "Everyday we're failing more than we're succeeding," Erin says. "But if anything, the failure is where the success comes from," Chris points out.
"One of the biggest motivators for building this network was a desire to tell the stories of brave people who are chasing big dreams,” Jo told People. “Ever since discovering the incredible team behind Growing Floret, I have been endlessly inspired by the grit, hard work, and beauty that they’re putting into the world. We are so excited to tell more of their story as they take the courageous steps to expand their flower farm and grow their business.”
It's the first original programming announcement since Chip and Jo unveiled Home on the Road, a six-episode series following the husband and wife folk-pop band Johnnyswim as they tour North America. The show is said to be a family affair, with the couples' two young kids in tow for the ride.
Magnolia TV network is set to premiere on Oct. 4, 2020. The date was confirmed for the first time by Discovery President and CEO David Zaslav at the 2020 Winter Television Critics Association press tour. Zaslav teased “fantastic” content in development at the time, adding, “We think Chip and Jo represent the values that America is looking for."
