Nine Favorite Things | halfbakedharvest.com Nine Favorite Things: Happy Halloween weekend! Did any of you have Halloween parties last night? I can’t believe we’re approaching the holiday season. I’m already preparing our Thanksgiving menu for you all! It’s beyond crazy that Friday is November 1. Every year around this time (usually with a November snowfall), I start to get so excited! With so much travel, this will be our busiest holiday season yet. This feels both exciting and scary. I’ve shared this many times, but my true self is a homebody. Up until about two years ago, I honestly would get so stressed when I had work trips. Sometimes, I’d make myself so anxious that I’d actually call the trip off. Looking back, that seems crazy because today, this could not be more different. Now I look forward to travel. And while there are a lot of elements about travel that really do make me anxious, I’ve discovered ways to push through. I now actually feel excited about work trips! Today, I’m on my way to New York for a few days. I have an event with Amazon on Monday night, and then it’s time to start diving into Quick and Cozy book press! The book launches on November 19th, so less than a month away. Every day we get closer, I become even more anxious. I’m so excited to share this book, but that makes me care even more about how it’s received. My only hope is that this cookbook truly brings value to your everyday life, providing you guys with quick recipes that taste delicious. I want to be that girl who solves your cooking problems. I want to take the fear and stress out of cooking and help you find ways to make it fun! This is certainly my favorite book I’ve created yet! I’m really looking forward to sharing this book, traveling to see you all, and then chilling with my family for Thanksgiving! Oh, and then decorating with my mom and little sister, Asher. I’ve been ordering way too much holiday decor. I just can’t help myself, it excites me so much! Hence, I’m sharing some of my favorites below! I spent this week at home. It was my first full week home in a while and also my last full week home before the New Year. Isn’t that crazy!? Last week, I shared the book tour dates with you all. It was so fun to see everyone’s excitement about the book! I know we can’t get to every city, but with many of them almost sold out, I hope to add more cities to the list very soon. I’m resharing all the book tour information below in case any of you missed it! I feel so lucky and excited to do these things and meet so many of you. It really is special to me! Finally, prepare yourself for the kick-off of Thanksgiving recipes this week. My potatoes are so yummy this year, but do not miss the pie! Can’t wait for you to try these recipes and see my tablescape! That’s all for today – have the spookiest, frightful Halloween! nine favorite things

1. Things i’m loving, wanting, and excited to try.

burning…our entire HBH x Snif candle collection. All three candles are finally back in stock, including everyone’s favorite holiday candle, Gingerbread Smash. I’m curious, of all three candles: pumpkin smash, apple cider, and gingerbread, which one is your favorite?

cooking…Apple Cider Smothered Chicken. Love this recipe!

everything in my cart (low)…ordering this Full-Length Trench Coat from Abercrombie (they have some of the best coats!).

And for my hair, this sweet Emi Jay Sweetheart Clip.

listening to…Danielle Bernstein AKA We Wore What – How To Create Your Dream Job, Overcome Challenges, & Build An Online Presence & Brand. Top podcast of the month for sure. I really enjoyed this and took a lot away from it. This was just what I needed to listen to.

dreaming of going to…for spring break, Belmond Cap Juluca Hotel in Anguilla. And for right now, Fouquets, Paris. How pretty? I bet this hotel is magical during the holidays! Fun fact: my mom and Asher stopped here two years ago.

Everything for my mom…I know she would love these cute Brushed Cashmere mittens from Lisa Lang. Oh, and then I just found these Gabriela Hearst Foster cashmere mittens, too – she would live in these! They’re 40% off, so maybe I need to order them now! These Donegal cashmere gloves are great, too! I would definitely get her the matching cashmere neck tie and ribbed two-tone cashmere-blend socks. She would say they’re all too expensive, but she almost only wears cashmere sweaters now, they’re her favorite. Thus, I think she needs some mittens!

Also for mom, thinking she might enjoy this Convertible Puffer Coat from UGG.

shopping…the new fall it bag, the Coachtopi Alter/Ego Hobo Bag in Checkerboard Upcrafted Leather.

loving and wanting…Mauree Velvet Garland I found this on Lulu and Georgia. So cute but out of stock until December!

wanting…to experiment more with Lymphatic Treatments. I have to be in Austin in a couple weeks and want to visit The Road where they offer this! I’m loving learning more about the benefits lymphatic massage has on our overall health.

everything in my cart (beauty)…I love the Saie Glowy Super Skin Tint Foundation with Hyaluronic Acid and am reordering it. I’m also testing out the Pout Preserve Hydrating Peptide Lip Treatment from the Anine Bing x Ole Henriksen collaboration.

I adore the new The Skinny Confidential Brow Peptide Eyebrow Growth Serum. It helps to lengthen, strengthen and thicken eyebrows for a fuller brow. I have been using it everyday for the last week! And lastly, the new Victoria Beckham 21:50 Rêverie Eau de Parfum. Sounds lovely

watching…Everything Coming to Netflix in November 2024. So excited for Christmas movies! Like you have no idea. I will not start until Thanksgiving, but I’m ready! Tell me, what’s on your Christmas movie list?

ordering…these pretty champagne coupes for upcoming holiday cocktails.

loving..the Collector’s Study Peel and Stick Wallpaper. Also, this Dutch Yellow Wool and Tencel Kids Area Rug. Both by Jeremiah Brent.

everything in my cart (high)…the super cute Azure Knit Dress. I would wear it with this Veda Luca Suede Jacket, both from Reformation. Of course, if you want to kick it up a notch, there’s this beautiful Canvas Coat from Prada. Also super cute from Prada, their sweet but pricey Velvet hair clip. How cute for a holiday look?!

Love this gorgeous Lysandre Jacket in Leather from The Row. And I can’t stop thinking about the new Bottega Veneta  Lauren 1980 Maxi Bauletto Bag.

watching…Sabrina Carpenter Loves a Musical Theater Reference. Sending this one to Asher because she and my sister in-law, Brenna, are going to see Sabrina in November!

shopping…The Everygirl’s Holiday Gift Guide 2024! Wow, they shared so many good holiday gifts!! Excited to start shopping for Christmas! I certainly love gift-giving!

5. Good Things List.

With November and December being holiday months, it’s time to celebrate the season, share with family and friends, and, of course, bake all the cookies. However, this time of year can bring a lot of stress and sadness as well. I read about a Good Things List and I love the idea.

Basically, it consists of writing down just one good thing that happened that day. This can be on your phone, in a notebook, or on Post-it notes. But I love the thought of celebrating even the simplest “good thing” about each day. Here are a few that come to mind for me:
  • getting up on time and getting out early for a hike/workout.
  • creating and styling a recipe that I feel SO EXCITED to share!
  • getting to create menus for the holidays – like our Thanksgiving menu!
  • talking on the phone to my mom.
  • having time to dry brush, shower, wash my hair, do skin care, get in my sauna blanket, and ice roll my face.
What’s on your Good Things List?

  1. Every time I’m on your website it crashes. I can’t even get through a recipe before the page goes completely blank. The ad volume is way, way too much. They’re on top of content and even overlapping each other.

  2. I keep seeing the same complaints from others about all the ads on your site. It really is annoying and the page crashes often when I’m trying to scroll. But it doesn’t feel like anything has changed. Is that in the works? I love your recipes but this site leaves a lot to be desired. Just now, i had to restart this comment because an ad popped up and I tried to close it but it clicked on it. It’s very frustrating.

  3. Just purchased my ticket and can’t wait to meet you!

Do you host any holiday gatherings with your girlfriends? I’d love ideas for my annual Friendsgiving party!

  4. Loved your VS fashion show post on Instagram! Also really respect your team deleting a lot of the critical comments towards VS. With that being said, there were also a lot of transphobic comments towards model Alex Consani. Will you also be deleting those vitriolic comments? I hope you stand and support the trans community and will also consider hate that isn’t personally directed to you!

    1. I agree with you on this, but I think there is. still a ton of hate comments on the IG post as well, directed at T. and also some of the models. It’s all really unsettling to see.

  5. All of the holiday decor you shared today is for Christmas. Christmas isn’t the only holiday of the holiday season. Are you going to share things for the other holidays?

    1. Hey Alexandra,
Thanks for reading today! Yes, I will definitely share a variety of holiday decor throughout the next few months:) Have the best Halloween weekend! xx

  6. Another great NFT! I don’t know how you manage to be so nice to such evil people. 😅 Once again, though, would love to see you requiring approval on the comments before they are published. Don’t give these jag-offs a playground for their dysfunction.

    1. Thanks so much for reading today, Barbara! Glad you enjoyed the content:) I appreciate your feedback regarding the comments, I definitely hear those that want a pre-approval before posting. Have the best week! Happy Halloween! xT

  7. I follow many foodies and their websites but I have to say you are 100% truly my favorite. From your “Nine Favorite Things”, your self reflection, your closeness to your family and the inspiration that you provide is simply amazing. I can’t wait to receive your newest cookbook and I will always continue to be one of your biggest fans. Keep up the good work…you’re truly AMAZING!!!

    1. Thank you so much, Cathy:) Your message really made my day! I appreciate you being here and making so many recipes! I hope you love the new cookbook as much as I do! Have the best Halloween week! xT

  8. Absolutely adore Nine Favorite Things. I always end up buying something you recommend and loving it! Love the photos and all the burgundy suggestions. Happy Halloween!

  9. Darn! I will miss the book event in NYC – I will be there the week after for Thanksgiving. I’ve already pre-ordered the book though, I’m sure it will be super popular! Speaking of NYC, how do I score a reservation at Polo Bar? – I haven’t been successful after calling 30 days in advance and waiting on hold, but no go. I really want to eat there, it looks fabulous! Happy Halloween!

    1. Susan, don’t bother with Polo Bar. There are over 23,000 restaurants in New York City. You can do better. There are so many fantastic restaurants, you can find any type of cuisine.

    2. Polo bar isn’t worth the hype or money. It is a place frequented by basically every influencer/reality celebrity. Try Gramercy Tavern, Keens steakhouse, Via Carota, Don Angie.

      1. *wannabe influencers and reality celebs
Visiting New York City and getting a burger feels like a waste of a meal. Polo Bar isn’t even the city’s best burger.

  10. Tiegan,

Just wondering why you keep saying that the cities on your book tour are either 1. sold out, or 2. almost sold out? You said in your stories this week that “many cities were already sold out” and today you say “but with many of them almost sold out.”

Promoting your projects is understandable, but misleading your community to think otherwise is wrong. A quick check shows that every city is NOT sold out (just one small dinner in Chicago). In fact, it appears there are plenty of spaces left in all locations.

Telling your followers that something is sold out, when it’s not, is also what you have said about your candles. Again, is your goal to give a false impression and create urgency when in fact, there is none? This is a poor, and not very savvy, marketing strategy on your part because it’s obvious what you’re doing and ultimately consumers don’t fall for it. It’s a great way to lose followers due to lack of trust.

    1. Take a chill pill please. So many horrible things happening in the world and you’re focused on something silly. Please stop and find some happiness somewhere. Get a hobby! Go help at the local animal shelter! Go feed the homeless! Hugs

    2. Hey Anna,

We did only have a handful of tickets left for each city. I asked to have more tickets added because of the demand! I want to have everyone out to these events 🙂 not trying to fool anyone at all. Genuinely excited to meet as many of our readers as possible! Trying to accommodate everyone and include this wonderful community we have in each city 🧡🤎

The candles have all been restocked! They are available to order now.

Hope you have a great week! Happy Halloween 🎃

      1. Sorry, Tieghan, but your response to Anna sounds like you’re just back-peddling and perhaps just stretching the truth. I also have noticed how you say something sold out in a day, and then all of sudden, not only is it back in stock but 20% off.
Same is true with your recipes. You’re asking your readers to trust you every time you post one. If the recipe doesn’t work, if times are off, ingredients missing or incorrect amounts, you will lose trust with your followers.
Just makes people wonder if you test any recipes before publishing or if the “sold out” claims are even remotely accurate.
Hope you have a happy Halloween.

        1. What doesn’t make sense is why after T. was civil enough to answer your extremely rude, presumptive and disrespectful question (which was obvious snark) you had to come back and badger her again under a different pseudonym.

A resounding hell yes to Barbara (and many others’) suggestion to pre-approve comments before posting. These attacks are ruining what used to be a nice site. Why even respond to such disrespect? Why leave these comments up? It’s sickening.

    1. I think she knows how old she is. “Sighs”. Please go and find something else to do. You are so sad and I wish you happiness. Things will get better for you when you focus on yourself and not others.
I’m way older than 30 and I still call myself a girl sometimes. What’s the harm in that?

  11. Hi Tieghan,

How do you process the anxiousness/stress in preparing for your trips? Do you do any deep breathing exercises or what resources is your go to?

On the list idea, I’d say good health, finding joy in the little things, and finding time to pause and reflect on the day or week comes to mind.

    Have a great travel week.

    1. Hey Emily, when I can remember to, deep breathing is always so helpful. And actually I am going to do that today! I’m feeling anxious! Sundays are always tricky for me. I find that calling a friend or speaking with my mom to be really helpful.

And honestly deep breathing is great! And legs up the wall at night before bed always always calms me.

Also, if there is something specific I am stressed about, I try to pin point what exactly is stressing me and then problem solve and make an effort to adjust something so I am no longer stressed. Example, my schedule is looking tight and I am stressed about being late or missing a deadline, I
Ask my team if there is Anything we can adjust to make the day feel manageable. It’s all about pinpointing the exact stress and rationally taking steps to combat the stress. Deep breathing is definitely helpful here too!

Hoping this helps a little but always happy to answer anymore questions for you!

      Have the best Halloween week!

    1. Hi Beth,
Thanks for reading each week:) Renovations are coming along, slowly but surely, I will certainly share more when the time comes! Have a nice Sunday! xx

  12. Happy Sunday, Team HBH! Another fun favorites post. I was hoping to see the rest of your Austin pics though. We’ve still just seen “Part 1”! Lol

    1. Hey Elizabeth,
Thanks so much for reading today! Ahhh, I know, I feel like I kind of just ran out of time with so many other things I wanted to share! I hope you are off to a great Sunday! xT

  13. Happy Sunday, Tieghan, Gerard Fam, and HBH Team! I love how far you’ve come with travel. I remember you posing a list on IG stories once about all the ways you make travel comfortable and convenient, and I actually screenshotted it and saved it for when I take trips! A beautiful, comfy hotel and good hydration are top of my list. I cannot believe November is next week! Where on earth does the time go? Have a wonderful trip back to beautiful NYC, and I hope your week is amazing!

    1. Hey Jen,
Happy Sunday and thanks for reading as always:) So glad to hear you found that travel list helpful, nothing better than a cozy hotel, IMO:) I know, it’s wild, I feel like September-December just flies by! Have the best week! XxT
