Hope Plowden plows on

It was disappointing to see Kevin Knox get a one year contract while fellow summer league player Plowden was cut. Plowden outplayed Knox in every facet of the game during summer league, and these roster moves appear to reward draft pedigree (Knox was a #9 pick a few years ago) over talent and effort. The frenetic energy a rookie player motivated by being on the edge of the league could be a well needed shot in the arm for this veteran team; it is human nature to lose some excitement after playing so many games. Hunger and fresh legs, as exhibited by Poz last year, helps a veteran club pick up the pace. There may be some personality fit factors of which the fans are unaware, but while Knox is an impressive athlete with a prototype NBA body, his feel for team defense, and his shot, is a little off. As a former #9 pick, he has had many opportunities. It is time to give Plowden just one of those opportunities to see what he can do.
