The key will intentionally do nothing if you're in melee range and might be wounded.

NOTE - patch 1.20.651 added this idea so you probably want to set this to false, NOT the default.

ItemRarity feature: superior equipment and food strings are themselves coloured instead of tagged with a modifier word that is coloured. (on by default).
