njmomma, not sure what you mean by 'constantly' moving. I move my plants often, but not more than once or twice a season. I don't move them at all once it gets too warm out because they suffer when I have done that. So the mulch in the spring has broken down pretty good over the winter and I am moving everything all spring and then I lay more cardboard and mulch after the beds are done moving for the season. Beds that don't have moving in them get mulched earlier in the spring. I have not found the cardboard and mulch to get in the way of moving plants at all. Even if I have laid down the mulch and cardboard, you soak the cardboard before you put mulch on it and by the time you have to dig into it, it's easy to pull the piece of it away that is in your way. I take pieces of cardboard that I've disturbed to plant something and add it to the compost pile, no problem at all. I think you will be pleasantly surprised at the way the whole thing works out.

It's a distinguishing trait for this cultiver to have this bottom branching. It gives it balance and appeal. You didn't design it anyway...someone else did who is a whole lot smarter then you or me. You asked for opinions...for what it's worth. I have Pinus banksiana 'Manomet'. It does get better with age. Believe me. Actually Picea pungens 'Iseli Fastigate' aka 'Blue Totem' are 2 different cultivars...for those not in the know. Well's Nursery has their own introduction... Plant as: 1975 Picea pungens fastigiata Wells 'Blue Totem' Spruce Colorado Blue Totem. Jacobson 'North American Landscape Trees' lists: 'Fastigiata' as Canadian Intro and further states that it appeared in '1993-93 Buchholz & Buchholz Nursery, Gaston, OR'. 'Iseli Fastigiate' 1963 by Jean Iseli and in production later. It won't be long before your Picea glauca 'Sander's Blue' will be green and blue. It does always try to revert back to green. Unstable at any cost. Still a nice cultivar and I am sure you already knew that. When is it going to snow there? It seem like you are living on borrowed time... better finish up or you will be out there in your Snow Bunnie suit taking the rest of your photos. Dave

I had it (mine was paler than the photo) but it did have (the faintest) scent. To be honest, I got a tad bored with the pale bells - I dug out BC and a Prince Charles. Have been having a species clematis moment though and especially enjoying the late c.flammula, potaninnii and ternifolia types...a kind of clematis synonym for those huge white ramblers such as Rambling Rector et al. Taylors or Thorncroft will have it, Marlorena. (I have just ordered Fragrant Oberon from them)
