Has anyone put up their own pergola? We're looking at doing just that, and I am trying to decide between buying a kit or coming up with a plan ourselves.

We'd also like to lay some plexiglass or something to keep us dry underneath-- does anyone have any recommendations for materials or installation? We're in south Florida so whatever we use should be able to take the sun and a little wind every now and then, but I don't know how what material does this best.
