It's week two on the frozen tundra and the name of the game is Rig Move. MGM is breaking down camp and moving every last piece of equipment to a new base at Langley to continue exploring for natural gas. While Alex and Hugh continue to prove themselves, Rick's only drive is into the repair shop where he spends two days doing nothing but sitting around. Fellow southerner Drew finally takes his first big rig solo on the northern ice--to deliver junk food. Northern veteran Eric picks up a survival shack from the new site at Langley to return to Inuvik. His load is too high to fit under the power lines in Inuvik, so he spends the night on the ice with his load just outside of town. Just as the trucks are ready to roll for the big move, another storm strikes. Jerry is concerned about dangerous whiteout conditions. With lives and money on the line, the risk is too great and the move is called off.

After the storm clears, most of the truckers are ready to roll--all except Rick, who is on the verge of quitting and looks to Hugh for advice. For a second time, Jerry attempts the MGM camp move, including the transport of an expensive 50-ton derrick. He's assigned two of his best truckers to the task, which includes a risky practice called "Two Trucking," where the cargo is simultaneously loaded onto two trucks--one to provide the main power, and the other to keep the derrick from fishtailing around curves in the road. This awkward and massive load could tax the ice to its breaking point. At the same time, Alex embarks on a run to Aput, an unfamiliar location. When he misses his turn off, he is lost, confused, and out of communication in a place where one wrong turn can find him on fragile ice.

The truckers have delivered the fragile 135-foot derrick to the new MGM exploration site, but before it can be erected, they must also transport the 80-ton substructure that will form its base. At 160,000 pounds, the base must be broken into separate loads, the combined weight of which makes them the heaviest--and most dangerous--loads the ice will face all season. Veteran trucker Bear Swenson and Arctic Ice Road rookie Alex Debogorski are entrusted with the challenge. This is the heaviest load of Alex's ice road career. Compounded by on-going and increasing health problems, the pressure on this trucker is rising fast.

Bear and Eric must haul a boiler and a flare stack--two critical pieces of equipment--to Langley at the same time that a polar bear is spotted in the area. In this region of the Arctic, polar bears have been known to kill humans, so the truckers must now be on guard against this new danger. Rick is irate about a 5-day-long trip that his bosses assign him, and his frustration mounts along with his threats to quit. Alex's health continues to deteriorate and he must be med-evaced to the Yellowknife hospital, his fate unknown.

After being Med-Evaced to Yellowknife hospital, Alex receives a grim diagnosis that could mean the end of his Ice Road season. Rick is also complaining of health issues, and again threatens to quit if his boss won't let him take time off to see a doctor. With nearly all of the rookies out for the count, the Arctic veterans take on the challenge of hauling the final loads of the rig move. Bear must load up the P-Tank, a critical part used to measure the amount of waste gas emitted by a drilling rig. And Eric sets off on a slow journey to transport a mud pump from Aput to Langley. Weighing in at 100,000 lbs., the massive size of this complicated piece of machinery requires a speed limit of just 16 mph--any faster and Eric would risk damaging the already taxed ice road.

In Riverside, Kenny gets baited into bidding on a massive locker; Rene and Casey try to go small and end up churning out a few bucks, while Shana and Edwina's mystery box is mislabeled.

In Hawaiian Gardens, Darrell breaks in the new guy. Brandi and Jarrod detect something mysterious in their unit; Justin paws his way through a decent locker.

Back in Santa Ana, the buyers face ten vaults belonging to the same owner. Dave snaps up almost half of them, while Ivy draws a nice profit out of his. But in the end, Mary and Kenny end up doing all the heavy lifting.

In Stanton, Dave finds that sometimes, making a profit is like pulling teeth. Mary grinds to get into the black, while Ivy's locker ends up sucking and blowing.

Once again in Riverside, Shana and Edwina bring their "Golden Girls Chic" but end up phoning it in. Dave trains his eyes on a messy unit. Rene isn't supposed to be buying, so he sells instead.

Back in Torrance, Mary dabbles with Dave's dark arts, while Kenny takes some excavation lessons. Brandi and Jarrod quit horsing around long enough to stumble across a wartime oddity.

The buyers try to get away from it all, heading out to Lake Arrowhead, where Ivy puts economies of scale to the test. Justin almost hits the bullseye on his locker, while Darrell and Chad's fortunes are found on the farm.

Dave brings his mentor with him to Rancho Cucamonga, but has little to show for it. Brandi and Jarrod go all in on a hunch. Kenny tries to downsize his strategy. Ivy shows a skeptical Emily how he pulls a win out of a locker.

It's nine stories of treasures in Koreatown and the Vegas Ladies discover that one of them has Texas flair. Kenny lucks out looking for lady stuff. And Mary gets the spring back in her step.

Out in West Covina, Rene brings Gunther for moral support but gets annoyed when the older German won't take sides. Darrell stumbles over what may be a diamond in the rough. Brandi and Jarrod discover a different national pastime.

The Setliff's are looking to escape the fast pace of their city life, leave all their electronic devices behind, and build a tiny house that can serve as their weekend getaway. Zack and John's biggest challenge will be packing enough into the house to keep the two young boys entertained.

Chaz is country boy and Crystal a city gal proving to be a perfect example of "opposites attract". It becomes even more evident when they ask John and Zack to build them a tiny house that has both a rustic country feel with some modern accents and amenities. With two completely different aesthetics to consider, Zack and John will have to figure out how to balance out the decor and deliver on giving them two completely separate spaces to lounge out in, all in only 240 square feet!

Sean and Kate have decided to embrace their window of opportunity and travel the country before their 1-year-old son Emery starts school. These two both work from home, so they're ready to hit the road and explore, but the only problem is they have 2 big dogs they need to bring with them. They've asked John and Zack to help them create a modern home that's sleeps everyone comfortably, including their big furry friends, and is durable enough to take on some miles. When weight becomes a concern, Zack worries his solution for a portable dog yard will keep this family stationed.

James and Jami are determined to uncover a hidden gem that embodies warmth and Southern hospitality. Host Trish Suhr takes them through unique homes with welcoming atmospheres, hoping to find a place that feels just right for their family.

Angela and Elizabeth have gotten rid of almost everything they owned in order to pursue their dream of opening an eco-feminist retreat center on the beautiful big island of Hawaii. They've asked John and Zack to make the trip out to paradise and help create a home for them and their two-year old, Riah, that embodies the traditional Hawaiian aesthetic while maintaining an off-grid system. Not only will this tiny house be their new home, but eventually it will serve as the center of the retreat and will need to accommodate their guests as well. Zack and John will have to figure out how to maximize this tiny space in order to complete Angela and Elizabeth's big vision!
