Column with log axis Part of PowerCharts XT
A logarithmic multi-series column chart uses a logarithmic axis, instead of a linear one, to show the magnitude of change for multiple categories of data. Data values are plotted using vertically aligned rectangular bars on the x-axis. The y-axis is drawn using a logarithmic scale, with the base set to 10. This chart is used when a small number of data points have values that are much larger than most of the other data points, in the same dataset. It is also used when a multiplicative factor or a percent change has to be showcased.
Best Practices for Column with Log Axis Chart :
- The base of the logarithmic scale should be decided based on the range of the data to be plotted. For example, if data ranges over several orders of magnitude, the default base, 10, can be used. If the data is spread over a much smaller range, a base of 2 can also be used.
