About this ebook
Evangelism is very important to every ministry, but unfortunately, it has become a challenge for churches and individuals alike nowadays. I hear people say that they don't know how to evangelize; they don’t know where or how to start a conversation about Jesus. Jesus always sought other people out to evangelize to them. He went to their workplaces and homes, showing concern for them and sharing fellowship with them. As Paul wrote to the Romans: For “Everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved.” 14 But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them? 15 And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent? That is why the Scriptures say, “How beautiful are the feet of the messengers who bring good news!” (Romans 10:13-15 NLT) People are suffering and seriously searching for solutions to their problems. Though not everyone will accept the truth, if we do not at least make the effort to tell them, then we will never know who might accept Jesus and who will reject Him. Our responsibility is to let people know what will help them to overcome the challenges they are facing in life. How To Evangelize With Confidence - Richmond Donkor
INTRODUCTION
Evangelism is vital to every ministry; unfortunately, it has also become a challenge nowadays for churches and individuals alike. I hear people say that they don’t know how to evangelize. They don’t know where or how to start a conversation about Jesus.
Most Christians fear rejection by their friends and loved ones. When I was in Bible school, I learned the traditional way of witnessing to people, by asking them where they were going to spend their lives after death. This catches people’s attention sometimes; but I also had people telling me that they didn’t care where they went when they died. Many people don’t believe in life after death while others believe that they will experience some kind of physical rebirth in the next life. This truly placed a burden on my heart to find some means of presenting the gospel to lost souls in a highly practical way.
After praying about this for some time, I remembered how Jesus witnessed to people about the Kingdom of God: He consistently sought other people out. He went to their workplaces and homes, showing concern for them and sharing fellowship with them. Nowadays we avoid searching for the lost; instead, we want them to come to church before we tell them about Christ.
Without evangelism, most people would die apart from Christ—because no one would be willing to reach out and share Jesus with them. Sharing the gospel should be considered as acceptable as sharing business ideas and discussing solutions to everyday problems—and the Good News of Jesus is even more important than such mundane concerns. As Paul wrote to the Romans:
For Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.
14 But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them? 15 And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent? That is why the Scriptures say, How beautiful are the feet of the messengers who bring good news!
(Romans 10:13-15 NLT)
People are suffering and seriously searching for solutions to their problems. Though not everyone will accept the truth, if we do not at least make the effort to tell them, then we will never know who might accept Jesus and who will reject Him. Our responsibility is to let people know what will help them to overcome the challenges they are facing in life.
Jesus wants us to evangelize to people because the time of God’s Kingdom is near. Here is what he told the seventy-two disciples whom he sent into the world:
After this the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them two by two ahead of him to every town and place where he was about to go. 2 He told them, "The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. 3 Go! I am sending you out like lambs among wolves. 4 Do not take a purse or bag or sandals; and do not greet anyone on the road.
5 "When you enter a house, first say, ‘Peace to this house.’ 6 If someone who promotes peace is there, your peace will rest on them; if not, it will return to you. 7 Stay there, eating and drinking whatever they give you, for the worker deserves his wages. Do not move around from house
