Q Reflecting on your journey as Miss Universe, what were the key lessons or experiences that shaped your approach to the ministry and projects you’re part of today?
Becoming Miss Universe in 2017 was an incredible and life-changing experience. It was an honour and a humbling journey that opened doors I never could have imagined. While my reign was filled with joy and countless opportunities, the transition after crowning the next Miss Universe was unexpectedly challenging. I found myself at a crossroads, unsure of who I was without the title and uncertain of what was next. This is something many of us face at various stages in life – whether it’s after graduating from college or achieving a long-term goal. The question becomes: What comes after?
One of the most valuable lessons I’ve learnt from my time as Miss Universe is the importance of not limiting yourself. The only person who can define the boundaries of what you can achieve is you. I believe it’s crucial to find your purpose early, educate yourself on it, and use your platform to lift others up. Whether you’re speaking to thousands or just those closest to you, your voice has the power to inspire and make a difference. Sometimes, a small spark can ignite meaningful change – both in the world and in the lives of those around you.
