CELEBRITY breakups are hardly uncommon but every now and then one comes along that really gets to you. And that was the case when Siya and Rachel Kolisi dropped their shock statement that they had “mutually decided to end our marriage”.

Siya is the king of South African rugby, a guy who not only puts his body on the line for team and country but has inspired generations with his back story, his ability to lead and his frequent messages of striving to bring hope and pride to a nation beset by problems.

Rachel was his queen, a woman who embraced his culture, adopted his half-siblings and uprooted her and her children’s lives time and again for her husband and his career.

No marriage is perfect and there were rumours and incidents in the past that clouded their union. But still, they seemed to have sorted their issues out, they seemed to be forging
