Emmy Awards aside, there is one badge of honor the venerable actor of stage and screen William H. Macy has not yet received.

Those who have lived in the unincorporated, infamous town of Woody Creek the longest and carry on its legacy as a counter-culture alternative to its far fancier neighbor are unofficially granted the title of “Woody Creature.” Depending on whom you ask, it’s either coveted or feared, but for Macy, who prefers to go by just Bill, “It’s my fondest hope, and I have the temerity to say that.”

Home to other notable names over the years from Hunter S. Thompson and Ed Bradley to John Oates and Don Johnson, Macy is a full-time local all thanks to his wife of almost 30 years Felicity Huffman, who grew up in the creative haven and ranching community in the 1970s. Soon after they met while she was a student at NYU, Huffman brought him home for the first time.
