IN THE SPOTLIGHT: YOUR WRITING GENRE - BUSTING

What an inventive lot the WM writers proved themselves to be with the ‘Genre-busting' submission call! The response was terrific, with a postbag full of playful, off-the wall writing that read as if its creators had a gonzo riot mashing up elements from various genres into unique hybrids.

Horror, Westerns, sci-fi, crime and fair ytales were all staple ingredients that found their way into many ingenious mixes, but there were also many delightfully unexpected elements that provided food for thought as well as a lot of fun. This month a pair of prose mashups have made it onto the page: we’re sure as you read them, you’ll see how these two rose to the top – the cream of the crop!
