Roller-Skating in the 1950s and Beyond
My parents divorced when I was 7 years old, and I lived with my mother, brother and sister in upstate New York. During my four years in high school in the early 1950s, we lived in the small town of Bainbridge, close to the center of the state.
The slightly larger town of Sidney was about 5 miles away. Sidney had a roller-skating rink, and we went roller-skating almost every Friday or Saturday night—except during basketball season, depending on when games were scheduled.
