Do you remember what your grandmothers looked like when you were a child? If you’re fifty or older, you may recall them in sensible shoes, hair permed and tinted, wearing matching jacket and skirt sets in tweed or similar. When you think about it, they were little older then than you are now. They seemed old because you were young, but also because of how they appeared: their style remained unaltered from middle-age onwards. You may not know exactly how they spent their days, but it seemed that one was much like another, aside from special times like Christmas and summer holidays. Even those followed a fixed pattern and habits.
