It’s 11.30am on Monday 10 June, and Anya Taylor-Joy has just arrived at Ealing Studios for a final rehearsal before she begins shooting on Edgar Wright’s Last Night In Soho. She will star alongside Matt Smith and Leave No Trace’s Thomasin McKenzie in what Wright has described as being a film about the London he’s experienced – fascinating given it’s a psychological horror movie in the vein of Repulsion and Don’t Look Now. Taylor-Joy, it’s rumoured, will play the lead in one of the film’s dual timelines, the 1960s, while McKenzie is a modern-day fashion student. Beyond these sketchy details, little is known.
“When Edgar and I first met, a couple of years ago, he said that he was writing a script that he wanted me to be a part of,” says Taylor-Joy, whose sunny smile counters the London drizzle. “But you know what movies are like. They’re ephemeral. They’re there, and then they’re not there.
