All upcoming PS5 games: 2025 and beyond

The PlayStation 5 has been out for some time now, and its reception has been mostly positive. It includes lots of quality-of-life improvements over its predecessor, the PlayStation 4, such as faster load times, a solid-state drive (SSD) instead of a regular hard disk drive (HDD), and an improved controller in the form of the new DualSense. There’s even the PS5 Pro, which boasts even better performance than the base version. However, a console is only as good as the games available on it and, thankfully, the PS5 has you covered on that front as well.

While the machine already has a worthy library of great PS5 games, there are even more to look forward to — most of the best upcoming video games are going to hit PS5. Some will be completely free PS5 games, some will be PS5 exclusives, and others will be completely cross-platform so you can play with friends on Xbox, PC, and Switch.

This isn’t a proper sequel or expansion to Elden Ring, but instead more of a co-op roguelite spinoff that will be the biggest departure from the typical souls formula we’ve seen from the series yet. Nightreign will allow you to fight alone or with three friends as specific character classes in a randomized run through a version of The Lands Between filled with bosses from across multiple FromSoftware games to try to survive all three nights. It won’t be another 50+ hour RPG, but a more bite-sized experience with a bigger focus on combat.

Ghost of Yotei follows a new female hero named Atsu and takes place in 1603, more than 300 years after the events of Ghost of Tsushima. The setting is Mount Yotei, which is part of Ezo, now known as Hokkaido. In 1603, Mount Yotei was outside of Japan’s rule, and it features a vast array of different environments including grasslands and tundra. The story also seems to shy away from the organized samurai clans that were in Tsushima, but no other story details have been provided yet.

Set in the early 1900s Sicily, you will experience the life of a mafia man from their first day in the family. The plot is still under wraps but promises a dramatic and bloody tale of the underworld.

Once we learned that the Last of Us Online was canceled, everyone was wondering what Naughty Dog would make next. Some thought The Last of Us Part 3 would be the logical thing, but instead, we’re getting an entirely new sci-fi adventure called Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. Following a bounty hunter named Jordan A. Mun, we will be hunting down a target who is hiding out on a planet that no one has escaped from in over 600 years. No gameplay or solid plot details beyond that setup are known yet, but Naughty Dog has earned a reputation as one of the best teams in the business so we’re very optimistic about this new title.

One of the greatest surprises during the 2021 PlayStation Showcase was the reveal of Marvel’s Wolverine, a project in development by Insomniac Games. That’s right, the studio is juggling Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and this game simultaneously, which just goes to show how impressive the team is. This one is even earlier in development than Spider-Man 2 and doesn’t have a release window just yet. It’s unclear if it will tie to the Spider-Man games or if it will be its own separate story — though we’re inclined to believe they’ll be connected. The reveal trailer doesn’t give us a glimpse of gameplay, but we can probably expect it to be a third-person action adventure with a large open world to explore. We know that you’ll need a PS5 to play this one when it comes out.

The Last of Us Part 3: everything we know so far
Ellie holds a guitar in the forest in The Last of Us Part 2.

The original The Last of Us ended ambiguously but didn't necessitate a sequel. However, Neil Druckmann and the team at Naughty Dog felt there were more stories to tell in that world, resulting in the equally impressive The Last of Us Part 2. Unlike the first game, though, the sequel left many questions unanswered that demanded at least one more upcoming video game.

Initially, the team was working on a multiplayer spinoff called The Last of Us Online, however, we now know that project has been abandoned and the team is once again focusing on single-player games. One of those games is indeed The Last of Us Part 3. Naughty Dog is considered one of the best studios at PlayStation, alongside Insomniac and its upcoming PS5 game Marvel's Wolverine and Suckerpunch's Ghost of Yotei.

High res key art for Helldivers 2- Escalation of Freedom.

Well, the answer is now yes, courtesy of a new DLC pack featuring Killzone 2 items.
