9:20 p.m. — Heading into Saturday night’s championship matches, the team leaders are:

The star of the tournament? How about Ponderosa junior Tyler Eise, who spent all of 39 seconds on the mat Friday while pinning Heritage’s Gabe Martinez and Chatfield’s Jay Aplanalp to advance to the Class 5A 175-pound final.
9:15 p.m. — Fort Lupton senior D’mitri Garza-Alarcon, will attempt to become a four-time state champion when he takes on Mullen senior Gilbert Antillion Saturday night. Garza-Alarcon previously won 2023 and 2022’s 138-pound championship, so he has a chance to three-peat in the weight class. He also won 2021’s 126-pound title. — Patrick Saunders

5:28 p.m. — Crowley County senior Aidan Halloran — who took a long road back to state this year after losing his dad in a car crash and then going through a lengthy battle with leukemia — has gritted his way to a pair of wins in the Class 2A 157-pound consolation bracket today. He just beat Monte Vista junior Jeremiah Baumgardner in a 5-3 decision, hanging on in the final period despite being visibly gassed. Halloran is still undergoing chemotherapy treatments, which affect his stamina, but he’s now one win from the placing round on Saturday. –– Kyle Newman
4:46 p.m. – Meeker gets a big win in the consolation round as 113-pounder Reed Goedert pins Nucla’s Jackson Mccabe to a roaring Meeker crowd above the mat. One small step closer for the three-time 2A runners up to dethrone Wray for its first team title since 2016. Meeker is 17 points clear of second place as it stands with 71 team points. — Braidon Nourse
3:32 p.m. — The arena has been cleared once again as the Class 4A and 5A quarterfinals and consolation round finished. Now, the girls and Class 2A and Class 3A boys consolation will continue with the second round of that side of the bracket. There won’t be any state champions out there, but these are important matches for schools looking to continue to rack up points in the team title. The semifinals for all classes begin at 6:30 p.m. — Kyle Newman
3:25 p.m. — The salty 190-pound Class 4A division is living up to the hype. Mead senior Dalton Berg, who won last year’s 175-pound title, advanced to the semifinals by pinning Canon City junior Blaze Fazio in 32 seconds. Berg’s opponent in the semifinals will be Windsor sophomore Evan Perez, who won his quarterfinal match against Mesa Ridge junior Elias Timms by technical fall (17-1). Perez won last year’s 165-pound title as a freshman.
Roosevelt senior Bronco Harston, who won Gold at 190 pounds last year, advanced to the semifinals by pinning Falcon sophomore Connor Heron in 70 seconds. — Patrick Saunders
3:20 p.m. — Pomona sophomore Kalob Ybarra, who won the Class 5A 144-pound division last season, is dominating at 190 this year. He pinned legend junior Champ Jones in 3:12. — Patrick Saunders
3:10 p.m. — At Class 5A, 215 pounds, Legacy senior Quinn Funk, who won the 190-pound title last year, improved to 43-0 with a 54-second pin of Chatfield junior Harper Packebush. — Patrick Saunders
1:50 p.m. — Bronco Hartson, naturally, wrestles for the Roosevelt Rough Riders, but he’s had an easy time in the saddle thus far. Hartson pinned Falcon’s Connor Heron in 1:10 to advance to Class 4A semifinals. — Patrick Saunders
1:04 p.m. — The Class 4A/5A quarterfinals have begun. In an electric early match in this session, Loveland sophomore Dominik Ortiz beat Pueblo South senior Braden Medina, 11-10, when Ortiz scored a take-down in the final seconds of their 113-pound match. After Medina threw his headgear following the final whistle, Pueblo South was deducted one team point for unsportsmanlike conduct. — Kyle Newman
12:20 p.m.: Grand Junction Girls remains in first place with 59 points. Pomona (47 points) is in second place while Discovery Canyon (45 points) sits at third. Chatfield, which is seeking to win its fourth straight team title, is in 12th with 26.5 points. — Ryan McFadden
12:14 p.m.: Fort Lupton Girls senior Rylee Balcazar is on a quest for perfection. Balcazar improved to 43-0 after defeating Bennett Girls’ Katelyn Faczak in the quarterfinals. She will take on Chatfield’s Lola Gonzales in the semifinals. — Ryan McFadden
8:30 a.m.: The second day of the state wrestling tournament is underway. By the end of the day, we will know who has advanced to Saturday’s championship rounds and which schools are positioned to compete for team titles. The Class 2A/3A and Girls quarterfinals run from 8:30 a.m. to noon, and will be quickly followed by the Class 4A/5A quarterfinals from 12:45 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. All of the semifinals are set to begin at 6:30 p.m.
