SUKKUR: A grand Jirga (tribal court) held in Jacobabad settled a seven years old blood dispute between the Marfani and Qambrani clans to bring an end to their hostility that had claimed a dozens lives.
MPA Burhan Khan Chandio had convened the Jirga in his guest house located in the Mauladad area of Jacobabad district.
MPA Mir Mumtaz Hussain Jakhrani, Minister Mir Babul Khan Bhayo, Sardar Changhez Khan Panhwar, Sardar Akhtar Hussain Khunharo, Sardar Najaf Kumariyo, Mir Noorur Rehman Jakhrani, Sardar Jagan Khan Bhayo and several other chieftains of their respective tribe, clan and community, attended the Jirga proceedings.
The Jirga imposed a fine of Rs19.45 million on the Marfanis for killing six Qambranis and Rs9.1 million on the Qambranis for killing three Marfanis.
The Marfanis were asked to deduct Rs9.1m from the fine imposed on the rival side and pay to it the remaining amount in three monthly instalments.
The hostility had started over a theft incident in 2017.
