The U.S. Marine Corps celebrated its 247th birthday on Nov. 10, and the Kingsland Masonic Lodge held a party in its honor at Pardners Night Club in Buchanan Dam. Burnet Young Life teens went head to head in a color war Sept. 12. The nonprofit Christian youth group reaches out to middle school, high school, and college students in all 50 states and more than 100 countries. The color war takes place the Monday after Labor Day each year.

The 2022 Burnet High School fall athletes were introduced to a packed gym of fans, friends, and family during Meet the Bulldogs on Aug. 19. Fall sports include football, volleyball, cross country, and tennis.

Horsemanship was on display during the the first event in the Iron Horse Obstacle Series at the Burnet County Fairgrounds in Burnet. Three other series events are scheduled in Burnet — Sept. 3, Nov. 12, and Dec. 3. Another event is Oct. 8 in Hamilton. The competition consists of several obstacles that riders and their horses must work their way through and includes prizes.

Highland Lakes VFW Post No. 6974 of Burnet celebrated summer with bounce houses, watergun games, a cake walk, a bake sale, a silent auction, bingo, food, music, and more on June 4.

Hill Country Motorheads motorcycle museum, 2001 Texas 29 West in Burnet, hosted the ninth annual Texas M/C Revival for the first time Nov. 6. Usually held in Georgetown, the statewide motorcycle event moved to Burnet when its former host business was sold. The Highland Lakes welcomed the latest major event to town with a lot of revved engines and a visit from Evel Knievel stuntman Gary Davis.

The Burnet Bulldogs football team hosted the Marble Falls Mustangs on Sept. 3, marking the 105th time the county rivals have gone head to head. As spring arrived, Highland Lakes residents were out and about at Falls Creek Skatepark and Johnson Park in Marble Falls, Hidden Falls Golf Course in Meadowlakes, and the Bluebonnet Air Show and Spider Mountain Bike Park anniversary celebration in Burnet.

About thirty people plunged into the frigid waters of Lake Marble Falls on February 19, the end of one of the coldest weeks on record in Texas. Todd Foxx and Kurt Cotter of Marble Falls raised $22,000 for the Highland Lakes Crisis Network, which has been working overtime to help those left without water, heat, or food after five-plus inches of snow fell during one of several storms earlier in the week. More than 100 people turned out to watch the jump.

First United Methodist Church of Marble Falls' Mission Outreach cooked and delivered meals meals to those in need
