28 Absolutely Stunning Halloween and Fall Mantel Decor Ideas

These seasonal decorations will take you all the way through fall.

By

The kitchen may be the most trafficked room in the house but the fireplace is really the "heart of the home." Most commonly situated as a centerpiece in a living room or den where lots of family action happens, the fireplace mantel is an ideal spot to add holiday flair, especially with Halloween and fall decorating ideas this time of year.

Although mantel size is based loosely on the size of the fireplace, a typical mantel gives you about 5 feet of space to decorate with seasonal candles, pumpkins, wreaths, and so much more. So pile it on! If you want to go all out with Halloween mantel decorating ideas, we've amassed spooky and nostalgic Halloween mantel stylings (how about a DIY Halloween mantel garland or wine bottles painted black and filled with orange pumpkins all draped in creepy spider webs) that are simply boo-tiful. Bats, spiders, and skeletons—how's that for creepy?!

For those looking for more general fall mantel decoration ideas, many of these design themes will last throughout autumn and will even fit right in with your other Thanksgiving decorations—think gourds, dried wheat bundles, and iconic harvest looks. Going this route is a huge bonus: No worrying about changing things out come November!

Whether you like your holiday decorations sophisticated and subtle or loud and colorful, or you simply want to use what you already have or spend a little cash, we have gathered ideas here that will guarantee oohs and aahs during all your fall dinner parties and Halloween parties alike. Here, 28 stunning Halloween and fall mantel decor ideas for every style and budget.

Crafty Cat Face Garland Halloween Mantel Decor

cat face garland

Give your mantel the purr-fect makeover with this black cat garland made from black card stock and string lights. Use a set of spare Christmas lights for the glowing cat eyes, as shown.

To make this at home, start by downloading our cat face template. Using a white pencil, trace the template onto black card stock and cut out desired number of faces.

Give it some texture by fringing the sides of the cat's face and the top of its head with scissors. Then cut three pieces of black waxed twine, about 4" long for each cat and tie them together in the center of the twine, and glue to the cat's face as whiskers.

Finish this craft by using a standard single-hole punch to create holes for eyes toward the center of each cat's face. Hang string lights and position cat faces on 2 lightbulbs, one in each eye hole.
