An afternoon of festive carols in the heart of the City. Join with City of Birmingham Choir and conductor Adrian Lucas to sing favourite carols and listen to some that might be new to you, in the historic setting of St Martin-in-the-Bullring Church. A seasonal afternoon for all the family.

We perform wonderful choral concerts in Symphony Hall, Town Hall and other venues in Birmingham, with trips ‘out of town’ to Lichfield, Tewkesbury and elsewhere.

Haydn@Home
In the pandemic, we rehearsed movements from Haydn’s Missa in Angustiis, also known as the Nelson Mass. Unable to meet in person, we used online video to rehearse and record this fine choral work. We were joined by orchestral players and soloists for our final recordings.

Magnificent concerts – time to book!
28th October 2024, by Mark LawrenceThe City of Birmingham Choir is polishing it’s performance of Mozart’s marvellous Great Mass in C Minor (1783) and Cecilia McDowall’s recently written – and also marvellous – Da Vinci Requiem (2019). With a fine orchestra and soloists, under the baton of Adrian Lucas, this concert is at Bradshaw Hall on 17th November at 4 pm.
Next up is eternal favourite, Handel’s masterpiece, Messiah. The City of Birmingham Choir is an expert at stylish and enjoyable performances of this work, having sung it most of the past 100 years. Fine soloists and the incomparable CBSO for accompaniment. Friday 6th December at 7 pm, Symphony Hall.
Finally in 2024, we present City Centre Carols, an enjoyable afternoon of festive singing at St Martin-in-the-Bullring Church on Saturday 14th December at 2 pm. For tickets, go to our concerts page. We look forward to seeing you there!

Our history…
The City of Birmingham Choir was founded in March 1921. Since then it has been a stalwart of Birmingham’s musical life performing a wide range of classical and modern music in Town Hall and Symphony Hall, often with the CBSO. Previous conductors have included Sir David Willcocks and
Christopher Robinson CBE. For the last twenty years the Choir has been skilfully led by the charismatic Adrian Lucas. Read MORE about our history.
