The goal of the Public Swimming Pools and Bathing Beaches program is to minimize potential health hazards and prevent environmental illnesses and injuries at public swimming pools, spas, and bathing beaches by enforcing Part 6, Subpart 6-1 and 6-2 of the New York Sanitary Code.
Program Staff:
- Issue annual permits for operation
- Conduct inspections of public bathing beaches and swimming pools.
- Check chemistry of public swimming pools.
- Collect water samples from public bathing beaches.
- Respond to complaints and conduct investigations
- Review plans for new swimming pools and bathing beaches.
- Perform enforcement actions.
