Last year, I made the observation that Patrick Dempsey winning the title of 2023's People's Sexiest Man Alive felt like Leonardo DiCaprio winning his Oscar for The Revenant. Like sure, I guess he might be deserving of having the award, but was that really his best work?
A similar thing can be said for 2024's recipient. Yesterday, I thought that Glen Powell or Jonathan Bailey were shoo-ins. If not them, then Pedro Pascal or Paul Mescal.
I was wrong. It is John Krasinski. You probably already know this based on the headline, I just wanted to be dramatic.
Speaking to People about his reaction to the title, the IF writer, director, and producer said, "Just immediate blackout. Zero thoughts. Other than maybe I’m being punked. That’s not how I wake up usually, thinking, 'Is this the day that I’ll be asked to be Sexiest Man Alive?' And yet it was the day you guys did it. You really raised the bar for me."
"I think [the title is] going to make me do more household chores,” he joked, adding of his wife, Emily Blunt, “After this comes out, she’ll be like, ‘All right, that means you’re going to really earn it here at home.’”
