If you missed it, Paul and Saoirse were on TheGraham Norton Show with Eddie Redmayne and Denzel Washington last month when Eddie started talking about his new action series The Day of the Jackal. He mentioned how he'd learned to use a phone to defend himself, leading Paul to joke about the method of using a phone in dangerous situations.
"Who’s actually gonna think about that, though?" he said. "If someone attacked me, I’m not gonna go: 'Phone!'"
"Sorry mom, one second — bang," he joked, as Saoirse playfully rolled her eyes. "That's a very good point," Eddie added.
Before then, Saoirse could be seen struggling to get a word in, but, at that point, she jumped in to say, "That's what girls have to think about all the time." She added, "Am I right, ladies?" to uproarious applause from the audience.
When asked if he was "surprised" by how it all played out, Paul said, "No, I don’t think we were surprised because, as you said, you’re on a talk show like this and you’re kind of just talking. But I’m not surprised that the message received as much attention that it got because it’s massively important.”
Speaking about Saoirse specifically, Paul said, "She's quite often, more often than not, the most intelligent person in the room, and I think she was spot-on. [She] hit the nail on the head."
"And it's also good that messages like that are gaining traction," he added. "Like, that's a conversation that we should absolutely be having on a daily basis."
Absolutely. Watch the moment here around the 10:00 mark, and share your thoughts on the situation down in the comments.
