PEQUOT LAKES — Ethan Quale led the Class 2A’s fifth-ranked Pequot Lakes Patriots with 18 points as they lost 77-72 in overtime to the Mora Mustangs in the opening round of the Pequot Holiday Tournament Friday, Dec. 27.

Tollef Birkeland tallied 16 points for the Patriots and Bradyen Dornseif finished with 13 points.

Deer River 78, Crosby-Ironton 58

CROSBY — Kyle Spencer’s 13 points led the Crosby-Ironton Rangers in a 78-58 loss to Class 1A’s sixth-ranked Deer River Warriors in the second round of the Ranger Holiday Classic Friday, Dec. 27.

Andrew Taylor came off the bench to add 11 points and five rebounds. Jack Kovatovich and Jacob English scored nine points and Ethan Millsop finished with 11 rebounds, five blocks and five points.Deer River was led by Cale Jackson’s 29 points and Caiden Schjenken’s 26.

In the other game, Proctor defeated Fond du Lack Ojibwe 51-50 to move to 2-0 in the tournament.

Deer River and Proctor will face each other at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, for the tournament title.

FRAZEE — Kobe Snyder poured in 29 points for the Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines as they lost 77-64 to the Frazee Hornets in a Section 8-2A matchup Friday, Dec. 27.
