FAQs about hotels in San Diego

The Art of Easy Living

Sweeping along the coast against a mountain backdrop, San Diego has easy living down to a fine art. Its wonderful beaches and mild climate make it a favorite spring break destination, and with over 40 city breweries, there are plenty of ice cold beers to set the mood.

The city’s most recognizable landmark is the Hotel del Coronado, a wooden Victorian beach resort, now a National Historic Landmark. As original Spanish mission and first in California, it's has been relocated to the Mission Valley area, and Old Town San Diego still has many Colonial buildings and quirky shops. Also great for shopping are Horton Plaza and the boutiques in the beachfront neighborhoods.

The city’s most famous attraction is its zoo in Balboa Park, a few blocks from San Diego International Airport. One of the world’s largest zoos, it is well worth a visit, as is the fantastic SeaWorld, home to several killer whales. To see wildlife in its natural habitat head to La Jolla beach where harbor seals rest, or watch whales in season from Point Loma Lighthouse.

Just over the border from Mexico’s Tijuana, San Diego has a distinctly Latin American vibe and a variety of accommodations encompassing apartments, motels, B&Bs and hotels. See Booking.com for the best deals.

Took a much needed sunny break for my birthday and visited San Diego for 3 days (we're from rainy Vancouver, BC). This was definitely too short of a stay as there's so much to see/do here. We stayed in La Jolla but managed to go around town. Some of the highlights include: - La Jolla Village - Balboa Park - Coronado Island - Old town San Diego - Seaport Village - Mission Bay Park - Gas lamp Quarter We loved it here, and will be back!

Great city. So much to do - mostly walkable but be prepared to take an Uber when your feet give out. Spend time at the beach and the military ship, Gas Lamp District, and Old Town, and Coronado Hotel.

I'm a San Diego native and love to visit. Love eating at Fillipis pizza and visiting all the sites. Trolley, bus, and rideshares are the easiest mode of transportation around the city and eliminates the extra parking fees associated with some of the exhibits. Love Mission Beach, the Missions, and Balboa Park. Best ticket is the ferry to the Island.

We arrived earlier than check-in and the front desk representative was able to get us into a room. This allowed us more time to explore Old Town San Diego. She was so friendly and provided us with information on thing to see and do. We loved the area, hotel and all the amenities it provides its guest. We would definitely stay there again and recommend to our friends and family.

Excellent location, right on the beach and close to all the action. Easy to walk around, no need to rent a car. Close to SeaWorld, mall and everything else you'll want to do. The hotel was nice and we felt the value was excellent. Room was clean and tidy, bed was comfy and our needs were met. For an oceanfront hotel you can't beat the price.
