Been to Charleston many times before.

Been to Charleston many times before. The divisive nature of the prominent rich compared to the oppression of slaves, presented at the 2 places we went, are being shown differently than when we first started going to Charleston in 2018. More emphasis was placed on the suffering and challenges of the slaves at the Aiken-Rhett House, but, the Nathaiel Russell House construction of those stairs was amazing. Considering the amount of slaves they had, surely the work fell on them, more emphasis on the granduer of the house there than the burden on the slaves. On a side note, the PARKING SITUATION was awful. The meter was not working properly, kept us totally frustrated. Worried the whole time about being getting fined. Then, when at the Aiken-Rhett House Museum, we had one hour before being ticketed, the tour took more than an hour, so, again worried, we rushed thru that. More emphasis or highlights on locations of parking garages should be a part of visiting Charleston.

Charleston is a great place to visit! Many things to do and see, Great restaurants. We spent our last honeymoon evening with dinner at 82 Queen. The service was 5 star as well as the food! Our server showed great interest in our wedding and took our picture for us. We will return to see more!

I grew up in Charleston and left almost thirty years ago.

I grew up in Charleston and left almost thirty years ago. The Charleston I knew was much more quaint and not nearly as crowded. Its an absolutely beautiful city and the surrounding areas of Mt. Pleasant and some of the outer areas hold a lot of charm and history for me. The gardens, Angel Oak, the Marina downtown all bring back pleasant memories. Everyone needs to experience the Spoleto Festival once in their life.

So much to see and do there that it will take more than one trip up there!! A lot of places to eat and lots of tours one can take. It will just take longer than a week to see and do those things though. It's very beautiful up there. A lot of historical churches up there to tour through also. You can request a catalog from them and it tells you places to dine, things to do and places to go see. It also comes with a map.

    Charleston is a hidden Gem.

Charleston is a hidden Gem. It is hard to say it’s a lovely place when so much of it’s wealth and beauty is attributed to a dark past. However, it is totally not what i expected. Residents obviously take pride in the place they live. Beautiful houses, warm welcoming people and a calm, atmosphere. I loved it and would recommend it 100%
