We arrived and was immidiately greeted by the friendly staff. After checking in we changed into yukata and went downstairs to enjoy a delicious burger dinner in a traditional japanese setting, something quite special!
The onsen was easily booked and me and my partner could bathe together as it is booked by room for an hour slot at a time. It is also tattoo friendly.

Hakone was beautiful and provided the views of Mt.
Hakone was beautiful and provided the views of Mt. Fuji that we were hoping for. We did not have a car and travelled the area by train, cable car, ropeway and pirate ship! Get a tourist pass to make getting on and off the transportation easy. We walked for miles and used all the transportation in the pass. So much fun!

There are plenty of places to eat here in Hakone!
There are plenty of places to eat here in Hakone! The people are beautiful and extremely helpful. (to all the locals that went out of their way to help two foreign travelers, THANK YOU) The food was outstanding, we NEVER had a bad meal. We ate dinner at an out of the way resturant suggested by a nice lady I met at the coin laundrymat! (Soba noodles with local fresh vegetables and fish) The second time, our "information officer" at the hotel brought us to his friends very small local kitchen for some authentic local dinner. Again, simply delicious.
The friendlyness of the people is what made our time in Hakone unforgettable. Oh yeah, there are plenty of places to shop local japanese made products.

Beautiful country side, very relaxing and people are cordial and kind. Rode the Ropeway on Cable train and riding the Gondolas 🚠 up to see the Owakudani Valley, Black Eggs of Hakone. Surfer beds you must see. We could see the top of Mt.Fuji in a clear day.

We arranged to stay 2 nights in Hakone at Hakone Retreat Villas. I was a bit worried that we wouldn't need that much time in Hakone, but boy was I wrong. It would have been great to extra night and day for relaxation at the retreat and leisurely exploration of the area. For example, it would be great to devote an entire day at the Open Air Museum!

There is a reason why this area is swamped with tourist - it is stunningly beautiful and very well organized to keep the masses moving. Plenty to see and do with options to get away from the crowds such as hiking.

The room (family room with tatami area) is generously spacious, with an amazing onsen facility next door. I love that guests can change into traditional outfits and walk around the hotel wearing them. The staffs are helpful and kind.
I am grateful to one of the reviewers here who mentioned that the hotel is accessible from Hotel Okada via an elevator. This saved us from having to walk up the steep hill every time we wanted to go to and from the hotel.
The shuttle to Hakone Yumoto station was also a great addition.
It was an amazing stay at Yuyado Zen, two nights were perfect as we get to spend time exploring Hakone and also fully enjoy the onsen stay. It is near to Ubako Station where you can ride the ropeway to attractions like Owakudani and Lake Ashi. Hotel staffs were very helpful with directions and offer free pickup/drop off to bus station. The food and hospitality were just amazing, probably the best meals we had in Japan! The room was very well maintained, clean and spacious as well. Highly recommend!
The hotel is located on the lakefront, near Kakone Ropeway and the Hakone Pirate Ship Togendai port. Large public spaces. Dinner and breakfast with a wide variety of options, beautiful and tasty. Great onsen. Variety of amenities. English-speaking receptionist, explained in detail what the hotel offers. Large and pleasant balcony with a foot bath. Relatively large room for Japan.
Well located beside Lake Ashi with a free shuttle service to Motohakone, a 15 minute ride. The rooms were quite spacious and the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast isn't cheap but quite adequate to start the day. The onsen was very much appreciated. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there.
It was very near Hakone-yumoto station, and the hotel has an onsen (I think that onsen charges were not included in the booking.com prices). The staff was also very friendly, we could leave our baggage before and after check-out.
