Staffs are all very friendly and helpful. AC is silent and efficient. Shampoo/Conditioner works well for repairing the hair after swimming in seas.

Set just 11 km from Kaloko-Honokohau National Historic Park, The Koi House with Pool offers accommodation in Kailua-Kona with access to an outdoor swimming pool, a shared lounge, as well as a shared... The property was clean and well maintained. It was in an ideal spot to explore the big island. We stayed in a room with a shared bathroom and it was never an issue! The host was great at communicating.

Located in Kailua-Kona, 400 metres from Honl’s Beach, Kona Tiki Hotel provides accommodation with an outdoor swimming pool, free private parking, a garden and barbecue facilities. EVY and Will were charming, helpful Inn keepers. Our room was lovely. We looked out on the surf. Each evening, we sat at the pool overlooking the ocean and watched the sunset. The hotel is situated a mile from the Kona tourist district.

Located in Keaau, 20 km from Lava Tree State Monument, Ocean Breeze Inn provides accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a terrace and barbecue facilities. We had a lovely welcome from Andy and the directions we were given were perfect . The apartment was spacious , very well equipped and spotlessly clean . The sound of the waves from the nearby seashore was amazing .The location was perfect for visiting the volcano national park and we recommend joining a trip to the summit of Mauna Kea . We would highly recommend choosing to stay here and do go and look at the beautiful sunrise at the point about 2 minutes walk away .

Boasting a balcony with sea views, a private beach area and water sports facilities, Ma'ukele Lodge can be found in Pahoa, close to Kaimu Beach and 21 km from Lava Tree State Monument. A great place to stay for a week (or longer). Great for events, parties, kids, reunions! Our hosts, Raven and Mark, are the best. When we arrived our room was immediately upgraded at no additional cost to us. The bed in our room was extremely comfortable. The mattress had a soft top but was firm overall - no back aches. Billowy pillows, soft sheets/bedding. The mosquito netting was pretty and romantic but we saw no signs of mosquitos. The beds had bedside tables, multiple electric outlets and great reading lamps. Our refrigerator had canned sparkling water, juice, fruit and a few other welcome snacks. The room opened onto a private garden with flowers, birds and singing night frogs - it even had an outdoor bathtub and shower, which I loved. The room had everything our hosts could think of for our comfort - snorkeling gear, sun tan lotion, skin soothing lotion in case you didn’t use sun tan lotion, toothpaste, nice soaps, lots of other products a traveler might need/have forgotten. The towels were plentiful, soft and absorbent. I won’t go on and on about breakfast because so many others already have, but just think fresh tropical fruit, guava bread French toast and all the gecko dining companions your heart can desire. The weather wasn’t the best the week we were on the big island but Raven and Mark had ideas of things we could do and gave us great directions to local attractions. My friend and I are anthropologists/archaeologists and Raven - and especially Mark - had great stories about the culture and history of the area. I just wish we had more time to talk with them. There was shared space, including a kitchen, but we were too tired after returning at the end of the day to take advantage. There were also friendly cats on hand to pet! When we left for the airport our rental car wouldn’t start and Raven saved the day by rounding up a helpful neighbor for a quick jumpstart.

Offering a garden and sea view, Orchid Tree B&B is situated in Hilo, 100 metres from Honoli'i Beach Park and 3.3 km from The Pacific Tsunami Museum. One of the most beautiful B&Bs I've had the pleasure of staying at. I will remember forever. We were in for a quick, one evening stay after getting engaged in Kona and my boyfriend (fiancé now!) and I could not have asked for a better place to celebrate 1 on 1. As PNW-ers, we love Hilo for its tropical rain. At Orchid Tree, you can look forward to: the most comfy bed (I gasped when I felt the pillows), tall ceilings with beautiful woodwork and a delightful breeze from the screen doors, and so many thoughtful, small touches. Every inch of the room was clean but it still felt homey, not sterile. Coffee, fresh fruit, and carbs in the morning, coupled with a sweet chat with Steve and fellow travelers. This B&B strikes the perfect balance of private and communal. At the end of our stay, my partner ran back in and Steve gave us a list of recs. We then proceeded in heading over to Steve's son's shaved ice shop (Aloha General Co - located at 28-1692 Old Mamalahoa Hwy, Honomu) to get one of the best desserts of our life and more caffeine. Highly recommend 'The Local' shaved ice. Could not have asked for a better stay. We hope to be back someday! For my foodies: For those who are celebrating (life or otherwise), Moon and Turtle was one of the best meals of my life and a trip to Hilo isn't complete without the fries and fry sauce at Hilo Tavern. ENJOY!
