Coventry City had to come from behind against bottom club Hull City at the CBS Arena as Frank Lampard enjoyed his second win in four games as the new Sky Blues boss.
Hull, with their own new boss Ruben Selles in charge for only the second time, looked on course to build on their 1-1 home midweek draw with Watford when they led 1-0 against the run of play at half-time thanks to Joao Pedro's opener.
But Coventry turned it round as they levelled through Ephron Mason-Clark seven minutes after the restart and even had a Victor Torp penalty saved before Mason-Clark crossed for Jack Rudoni to head a 72nd-minute winner.
With great irony, having been outplayed by their hosts before the break and fortunate to go ahead, Hull were a lot more of a threat in the second period.
The first half was largely dominated by Coventry until two minutes before the break when Abu Kamara's cross to the far post found Ryan Longman, whose close range header came back off the upright, only for Pedro to bury the rebound from eight yards for his third goal in nine games.
Given Hull's away record against Coventry, having won and drawn two of their previous eight visits to the stadium, it looked bleak for the Sky Blues, who were booed off by some home fans at half-time.
But Coventry responded on 52 minutes when Tats Sakamoto delivered a quality ball in from the right and Mason-Clark slid in at the far post to bravely get his head on it where it hurts, for his third goal in four games under Lampard.
The Sky Blues should have been ahead when Charlie Hughes' challenge on Norman Bassette inside the box was punished with both a booking and a spotkick. But it was a poor penalty, saved by keeper Ivor Pandur, diving low to his left.
The hosts then could have been behind when Mason Burstow bent in a shot with the outside of his right boot which looked destined for the bottom corner, only to be denied by a great save from Coventry keeper Brad Collins.
But, on 72 minutes, Mason-Clark went down the left, beat two men, dragged it on to his right foot and, from his right-wing cross, Rudoni steered his header back past the Hull keeper for his third goal of the season.
Who's next?
After a 2-2 home draw with Cardiff City and a 1-0 win at Millwall, followed by Wednesday night's 2-0 defeat at West Bromwich Albion and now this second victory too, Lampard's Coventry are back on the road for his fifth game in charge - at another side in the bottom two, Portsmouth.
That is another lunchtime kick-off next Saturday (12:30 GMT), when Hull City also play their next game, at home to Swansea City.
Post-match reaction
Coventry City boss Frank Lampard told BBC CWR:
"We created so many chances and it can be soul destroying if you don't take them. It was a case of staying strong - and to keep on doing the right things.
"Our best performance since I came in and there were smiles in the dressing room. They're happy boys. There were things we needed to correct from the West Brom game and the players did it, so I'm really pleased too.
"I was aware of Ephron Mason-Clark's talents coming in. All I've done is give him the opportunity. The rest is down to him. He has to take all the credit.
"He's been on form since we came in and I'm sure there's plenty more to come. The ball hit him on the face for his goal but it doesn't matter how they go in, it was reward for him getting there."
Hull City boss Ruben Selles told BBC Radio Humberside:
"We need to be more aggressive. And we need to defend a bit better.
"We were too long in certain moments, which gave them the chance to find some space.
"We are where we are and we need to keep building.
"We need to be more clinical and to play more together."
