Matthew McConaughey Celebrates Son and 'Teammate' Livingston’s 12th Birthday with Sweet Tribute
Matthew McConaughey is celebrating one of his boys!
On Saturday, Dec. 28, the youngest child of the 55-year-old actor turned 12 — or, as the father of three phrased it, “a dozen."
Matthew marked the milestone with a short but sweet tribute on Instagram. The Oscar winner shared two photos of the father-son duo watching a football game at Matthew’s alma mater, The University of Texas at Austin.
In the first image, the pair cheered on the Texas Longhorns together with their arms wrapped around each other as they watched the home game from an end zone at the Darrell K Royal Texas Memorial Stadium.
In the second photograph shared, Matthew appeared to tell his son something as they watched from the sidelines.
In the caption of his post, Matthew penned a message to his youngest son and “teammate,” foreshadowing many more special father-son memories to come.
"At a dozen, my son and teammate,” he wrote. "To many more wins in life. with love, Papa.”
In an Instagram Stories post, Matthew added, “Happy birthday Livingston.”

Livingston is one of three children Matthew shares with his wife, Camila Alves McConaughey. The pair have another son, 16-year-old Levi, and a daughter, 14-year-old Vida.
The youngest of the trio, Livingston is — or at least was, for much of his early life — the “troublemaker” of the family, mom Camila, 41, previously revealed.
In E! News’ YouTube series Mom2Mom, Camila opened up about the ups and downs of parenthood — and admitted that after Levi and Vida, the now-12-year-old was a bit of a “nightmare.”
"It was different with all my kids. My two oldest were so good. And my third came along and he was a nightmare from day one," the mom of three said in the 2018 video. "He was really, really attached to me. He would just throw fits and cry. He would not get out of that stage until he was like 4."
“I was like, 'This was so hard. [Livingston]'s such a troublemaker,'” she added, noting that now “he's in a sweet stage" and “came out of the dark side."

Matthew has opened up a bit about what Livingston is like. Outside of his athletic interests and troublemaking early days, the youngest child also has a creative side, the proud dad previously shared.
While chatting with PEOPLE in October 2020, the actor revealed that all of his kids had become "pretty good storytellers," and Livingston enjoys writing stories.
"Our youngest one will come fill us in: 'Oh, I'm on chapter two,' " he said.
