The best route off the interstate is to take exit 38 to reach the trailhead. The trail climbs through the forest and passes a steep rocky outcropping about a half mile from the trailhead. This spot is popular with rock climbers and you may notice climbing hardware hanging from the cliff. As you ascend you are rewarded with some views, the summit has a perfect view of Mt. Rainier.

11/19 Pre-Bomb Cyclone hike to avoid getting stuck on the pass. Very few people out on the trail today, and the winds started to pick up around 10am. The trail has a little bit of mud and runoff on the trail, but it’s minimal. A few inches of snow on the first lookout, otherwise, not much as of today. Trail in great condition, no need for micro spikes unless you are going up Haystack - then definitely bring them. Really slippery going up the scramble.
Sweet short hike to some stunning falls! Slippery when wet. Fantastic views and not strenuous!

Twin Falls Trail
Made it to the top, plenty of snow for the last 1.25 miles or so

This was a great hike! A few small muddy spots and a bit rocky at times. I rolled both ankles once but I was also not in hiking boots. I recommend using the trail map for this one as it gets a bit confusing at certain spots/turns
