Featuring incredible views and unique rock formations, this hike is one of the best ways to experience the hoodoos and spires of Bryce Canyon National Park. This great trail takes you by some of the park’s most iconic features, including Queen Victoria and Thor’s Hammer. You’ll start by hiking along the Navajo Loop Trail towards Sunset Point, where you’ll have fantastic views of the colorful canyon. You can choose to go to the right here and venture through Wall Street, a narrow canyon. This route stays along the eastern side of the Navajo Loop Trail. After passing Thor’s Hammer and the Two Bridges, you will come to the trail junction for the Queens Garden, where you will see some of the most spectacular formations in the park. At Sunrise Point, you’ll turn left and return to the parking lot along the Rim Trail. Along the Queen’s Garden Trail, you’ll have the opportunity to walk among the towering hoodoos and rocky formations. Hoodoos go through several stages throughout the course of their formation. First, water erodes the sides of rocky plateaus until they become fins. Once they are thinned out from significant erosion, holes form in their center, creating a window. Finally, after further erosion, the top of the windows break away, leaving a hoodoo in its place. In Bryce, most erosion occurs from "frost wedging". Rain seeps into cracks of the rocks, and when the temperature drops the water freezes and expands, which creates larger cracks in the rocks.

Did this loop heading down at Sunset Point first and back up at Sunrise. Amazing! Heading down was crazy with the narrow switch backs and it was pretty crowded. But once the Queens Court loop branched off the crowds were much less. I’m glad I went counter clockwise as I had my 3 kids with me and it would’ve been challenging to go up the way we went down. Glad we made it out before the snow came in!

We got here mid-morning and the main parking lot was full. Since the lodge is closed for the season, we just popped over and parked in one of the smaller lots that connects to the trailhead lot. I read a review on AT to do the trail counterclockwise, and I’m glad we did. It was much less strenuous coming back up at the end.

This is the hike to take if you want to get the most out of your trip to Bryce! Seeing the hoodoos at the bottom is incredible, you won’t regret it. I read the other reviews that said to go down the switchbacks at sunset vs going down at sunrise, and I’m very glad we listened to their advice. Those switchbacks we went down going into the amphitheater would have been so strenuous going back up. Take lots of water and go early! We went about 9am on November 24th and even in the off season it was already almost impossible to find a place to park. By the time we were done, people were waiting with their blinkers on for a spot to open up. If you can’t find parking at sunset, you can always park at sunrise since the tail ends around that viewpoint anyway. Have fun!

Beautiful and varied trail, nearly all paved so more of an easy IMO. Recommend starting with the Queen’s Garden portion for more dramatic views to finish.

Stayed at the lodge so this Trail was a short walk from our room. While several steep sections the trails were in good shape and the views were outstanding.

Beautiful views, could see some snow in the canyon! Best to start at sunset point and end at sunrise point for a more gradual incline out of the canyon.

Great trial, well marked and tons of sight seeing opportunities. We went counter clockwise and climbed down the switchbacks at sunset point. I’d recommend doing this, as you can see down the canyon from sunrise which is a better view. Much more visibility for pictures if heading up sunrise vs if you were to head up sunset.
