Trail reviews for Upper North Falls
After some heavy rainfall of the season the falls were raging!! Totally recommend going counterclockwise starting from the South Falls, because in about 2 hours you’ll reach the North Falls for a PERFECT lunch/snack break (lots of seating/benches inside the giant cave). After that there’s a longggg stretch of barely any waterfalls on the main trail before you end up back at the visitors center. I was surprised at how many waterfalls you could walk behind - my favorite was the Middle North Falls because there was no railing and you truly felt immersed in the falls. Parking was easy in the morning when we arrived around 9:30. REAL, CLEAN, AND FLUSHABLE TOILETS AT THE TRAILHEAD!!! Also worth checking out the gift shop:)
Awesome! Trail was flooded shortly after waterfall - loved it anyways
Super easy and fun trail to go, my pup loved the water and the rain definitely made it an amazing experience! A little muddy but just the usual due to the rain :)
Beautiful hike through old growth Forrest with lots of hanging moss. Went CCW This time which spreads out the elevation gain much gradually. Saw a few people on the rim trail but only saw one person on the Racket Ridge and Perimeter trails.
Long walk through the woods! Some moderate elevation change in parts but mostly quite easy. The length is what makes it difficult. We went CCW so the first 70% was through the woods! It was pouring and a bit muddy but really beautiful. By the time we got to the falls loop, we were super excited for a change in scenery. It would have been hard to go CW and not have the falls to look forward to. Took about 7-7.5 hours. Would say it’s closer to 18-20 miles.
