This trail is part of a multi-use trail network system around McKee Peak. The trail starts in Highlands right from Bassani Park. Please note that the Ambidextrous Trail loop is popular among mountain bikers. Watch out for mountain bikers on the trails as they can fly by. This trail network system has magnificent geological terrain with everything from caves to waterfalls. The Devon Waterfall is right at the beginning of the trail and is a great sight to see. Great for exploring nature with...

Beginning from Lower Sumas Mountain Park, this route heads up to McKee Peak via several trails. The trails are not clearly marked, but fairly well groomed. Having AllTrails open for navigation is recommended if you are hiking to make the correct turns at the numerous trail junctions.
Along a gradual climb, the trail passes by huge rocks and small caves, and what feels like a goat trail sometimes. There is some sections with mild exposure where you hike hugging the rock face. Some of the...

This is an awesome little uphill grind to McKee Peak and back again, beginning from the small parking area on McKee Road. The trail is easy to follow and is used by hikers and mountain bikers.
There are some rocky sections and nice forest cover most of the time. Once you reach the top, you will see a beautiful view of Mount Baker and a lovely spot for a picnic. It's a good idea to keep an eye on the map to help navigate the offshoot biking trails in the area.

Although this is rated as an easy trail, most users will find that this is definitely a hike and not a walk. It has many ups and downs and uneven terrain. There are plenty of crossover trails in the area if you wish to go further than the indicated loop. Overall, this is a nice, easy short little hike in the woods. Hikers report that the best time to hike here is during fall, when the foliage is really pretty. There are lots of trails to get lost in though so downloading the offline maps is...

Downes Bowl Park offers a lovely trail system with plenty of route variations. This park is a hidden! What looks like a normal trail at the entrance point quickly becomes dense natural vegetation and richly forested.
The trail is not entirely flat there are small elevations but very much doable for almost all skill levels. There is a porta-potty and ample parking in the entrance.

As you can tell by the map or name, there are many trails in this area. The route is particularly popular/geared towards mountain bikers, but is welcome to hikers/trail runners. It is very easy to get turned around as there are many intersecting routes, so please consider bringing your phone, downloading your map, or using a gps. Quite a hidden gem with amazing views!

This trail passes through farmland and soggy wetland. Along a fairly flat gravel path, it features a few bridges, benches, and a viewing platform with mountain views! It's a nice loop for runners or a casual walk with kids, great for bikes and strollers. It's also popular with migratory birds and wildlife.

This is a very well maintained and well marked trail with some nice views through the forest over the Fraser River. The trail is easy but does have some ups and downs and easy elevation changes to keep it interesting. You can continue along Matsqui Trail which runs right along the river for another few kilometres.

Pretty trail easy terrain

Lower and Upper Ambidextrous Trail
Good trail. Will be dusty as summer approaches. I only did the back half to the top and then down due to time. Good trail. Moderate uphill hike.
Difficulty: Moderate
McKee Peak from Lower Sumas Mountain Park
I did my own little side journeys as not a huge fan of the main path which is so rocky. But all in all a nice fairly easy jaunt to the view points. It technically does not take you to the mountain top. Just to two view points. Minor side journey to go to top. Great conditions. Sadly some development at base has entry area a bit messed up so look at trail guide closely to start

McKee Peak via McKee Road
Lots of water and mud already this time of year! Waterproof shoes would be ideal.
Trails are not marked well, a lot of bike trails everywhere. Had to use the map a lot to keep on the walking trail.
Parking: Free, Large lot
