Allrecipes' editorial guidelines Published on May 8, 2024 Photo: Dotdash Meredith / Janet Maples Weekly groceries add up really quickly these days. And while I have go-to products I shop for at my local stores—like fresh produce, meats, and ingredients for the latest trending recipe—I’m always looking to save on other staples when and where I can. In doing such research, I have found a few budget-friendly deals on Amazon through the Subscribe & Save program, special offers, or just downright bargain pricing. If you’re familiar with shopping around on Amazon, you already know the prices fluctuate, but for the most part, I have found (with my Prime membership) a list of affordable grocery goods I can rely on. Here are the items I order for two-day delivery right to my door. Which Groceries Are Cheaper on Amazon? 01 of 09 On-The-Go Nourishment: Kind Granola Bars Dotdash Meredith / Janet Maples Not a day goes by when someone in my family isn't grabbing a granola bar, and Kind Bars are a favorite for sure. Flavors like Dark Chocolate Nuts and Sea Salt retail for $17.50* for a box of 12 on the brand's own site but are a great deal for just shy of $13 on Amazon. I also order other versions like Kind Kids Chewy granola bars at around $9 for 20 and Kind Thins which are a steal at under $7 for a box of 10. Buy Now 02 of 09 Favorite Snack Packs: Goldfish Crackers Variety Pack Dotdash Meredith / Janet Maples The Big Smiles Variety Pack does just that, provides us with big, cheesy grins. And they're practically giving them away at $12 for 30. The box contains three flavors—Cheddar, Colors, and Pretzel—so everyone is happy. A one-time purchase will set you back $12.88 but if you set this up for Subscribe & Save, it's just $12.24 (or 40 cents per bag). Nabisco's Team Favorites Variety Pack with Oreo Minis, Chips Ahoy! Minis, Teddy Grahams, and Animal Crackers is a total bargain, too, priced at around $13 for 30. Buy Now 03 of 09 Easy Kid-Friendly Dinners: Annie’s Real Aged Cheddar Shells Macaroni and Cheese Dotdash Meredith / Janet Maples I get nervous when we start to run low on our beloved boxed mac and cheese. So I have Subscribe & Save set and it shows up without thought. This also means added savings. It ends up being $16.42 for a case of 12, or $1.37 per box—the cheapest I've seen it. The one-time price is still a great deal, too at $17.28, or $1.44 per box. This easy, beloved dinner comes in extra handy for feeding the kids on busy weeknights. Buy Now 04 of 09 Adult Snacking: Wonderful Pistachios Dotdash Meredith / Janet Maples As much as I like Goldfish, I need more grown-up choices to grab on-the-go as well. The Wonderful Pistachios Variety Pack fits the bill, and three flavors—Roasted & Salted Nuts, Chili Roasted, and Honey Roasted—mean something for every mood. Nine snack bags cost $7.11 via Subscribe & Save, or about 80 cents each. This is even cheaper than Costco, where they come out to 92 cents each. Buy Now 05 of 09 Portable Protein: PBfit All-Natural Peanut Butter Powder Dotdash Meredith / Janet Maples Portable protein like PBfit All-Natural Peanut Butter Powder, comes in handy on the regular. This review from Tom on the product page took the words right out of my mouth: “I love how easy it is to incorporate PBfit into my daily routine. Whether I'm blending it into smoothies, stirring it into oatmeal, or using it as a topping for yogurt or fruit, the possibilities are endless. It also makes a fantastic ingredient for baking, adding a delicious peanut flavor to cookies, muffins, and pancakes.” A 30-ounce container is $13.24 (44 cents per ounce) with Subscribe & Save, or $13.94 (46 cents per ounce) for a one-time purchase. Buy Now 06 of 09 Everyday (and Unique) Condiments Dotdash Meredith / Janet Maples Whether it's because they are a good deal or because they are hard to find elsewhere, Amazon is a handy place to shop for your favorite condiments. For example, a Heinz Grill Pack with ketchup, relish, and mustard sits just under $6 while it’s closer to $7 at other stores like Target. If your local shops don't have the variety you're looking for, the behemoth online marketplace certainly does. Try this Kewpie dressing and marinade that goes on everything or broaden your dip game with yuzu mayo or chipotle aioli. Buy Now 07 of 09 Specialty Items: Vanilla Paste Dotdash Meredith / Janet Maples Specialty products are always worth a comparison, because you might score a serious discount. The same $18-$19 4-ounce jar of Nielsen-Massey Pure Vanilla Bean Paste on Amazon is almost double that ($37) at Williams-Sonoma. And ever since 2020 when it was nowhere to be found, Amazon remains my spot for instant yeast. I go through a fair amount to make bread, cinnamon rolls, and pizza dough, and Saf Instant Yeast, Red or Gold, never lets me down. Buy Now 08 of 09 Fancy Water: Liquid Death Dotdash Meredith / Janet Maples I'm in my hydration era, and I know I'm not alone. After realizing Liquid Death was not some kind of energy drink, I decided to give it a try after someone recommended ordering it from Amazon. Confusing name aside, the reviews further convinced me. When someone calls it "Shockingly, almost annoyingly good sparkling water," I had to see what the fuss is about. Amazon offers many varieties (including my picks Mountain Still and Mountain Sparkling) for a very competitive price. A case of eight 19-ounce cans costs less than $12 with Subscribe & Save and just over $12 for a one-time purchase. The same product is close to $14 at Whole Foods (ironic since it's now owned by Amazon) and a dollar more at Target. As the brand states, “Don’t be scared. It’s just water.” Buy Now 09 of 09 Honorable Mention: Dishwasher Pods Dotdash Meredith / Janet Maples I get annoyed at how expensive dishwasher and laundry detergent can be...but the best price I've found for these (if you can't make it to Costco) is on Amazon. And while it's not cheaper by a lot, I still feel better about saving where I can. A 62-count tub of Cascade Platinum Dishwasher Pods is $18.94 with Subscribe & Save, or $19.94 for a one-time purchase. The same size box is typically north of $20 at other stores like Target. Adding a quick shoutout here to the kitchen workhorse that is Dawn Powerwash Spray, which I always keep stocked from the online marketplace. Buy Now What's Not Cheaper at Amazon I’ve heard canned goods like beans and tuna can be a score on Amazon, as well, though I’ve found this is true for bulk cases and I personally opt to stock up on these when they’re on sale at the grocery store—often for less than a dollar. The same can be said for olive oil. There are bargains to be found once in a while for favorites like Graza and Frantoia, but lately, I’ve been snagging the Kirkland brand from Costco—or other discounted brands at local shops—as prices keep creeping up. That said, you better believe I'm checking Amazon when it's time to re-up on staples! If you take the time to research, there are savings to be had, especially if you utilize Amazon's Subscribe & Save program and take advantage of sales. *Note: Prices and availability listed are from the time of writing and are subject to change.
