Location: Pittsburgh, PA
Expertise: Editing, Writing, Recipe Testing and Development

Andrea has been exploring the food industry and media world for the past 15 years, on a winding path from chef to planner to project manager to editor and writer. Through these experiences, she has developed a keen attention to detail and a passion for all things edible. Andrea studied communications at Penn State and cooking at The French Culinary Institute. She is an editor and writer for Allrecipes and has worked on projects for Simply Recipes, Serious Eats, The Spruce Eats, and more. Andrea is happy to bring her sense of adventure into home kitchens everywhere, trying each and every new trend along the way. She is from Cooperstown, N.Y. but now lives in Pittsburgh with her husband and two children.

What's the one kitchen tool you can't live without? My best friend in the kitchen is a sharp knife. And my cast iron griddle.

Experience

Andrea Lobas graduated from college with a public relations concentration, with an eye toward event planning. She soon realized she liked to be behind the scenes, creating beautiful food in the kitchen, instead. While working full-time in New York City for Major League Baseball (MLB.com—she's a Cooperstown native, after all), Andrea enrolled in culinary school and started writing for the school's blog. Afterward, Andrea got experience as a chef, events planner, and caterer while working for Danny Meyer’s Union Square Hospitality Group, and for private clients.

Needing a change from New York City, Andrea relocated to Pittsburgh, where she joined a top-tier restaurant group before moving to a tech start-up to work as an analyst and project manager.

After taking time off to have her two children, Andrea wanted to come back to her other two passions—cooking and writing. She is happy looking at recipes and food articles all day and contributing to quality content for all those who agree that food is love. Her favorite thing to make is homemade pasta.

Education

Andrea has a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Penn State University. She is a graduate of the French Culinary Institute (now the International Culinary Center) with a diploma in Culinary Arts. As an extracurricular, Andrea also completed a 200-hour yoga teacher training.
