The Most Genius Thing to Do With a Jalapeño

It'll give an instant upgrade to any dish.

Jalapeño peppers can take any ol’ dish from ordinary to popping with flavor. From reinventing the traditional cranberry dip to spicing up classic cheddar cornbread, jalapeños can really make food all the better.

There are plenty of ways to go about adding it to your dishes too, such as chopping or dicing it into small pieces and mixing it right into a dish, or even slicing it for topping your dishes, more like a garnish.

Now, there is another way to use the spicy peppers that doesn’t include any of the standard chopping or slicing but will still upgrade your dish with the perfect amount of spice by creating jalapeño dust—here's how.

Use This Jalapeño Trick to Upgrade Any Dish

Spice fans, meet your new current obsession: the viral jalapeño dust trick.

We recently saw this trick posted by Instagram user @kirtanap and had to give it a try. Here’s what you do: Simply place a jalapeño or two in the freezer and once they're chilled and firm, take them out and grate them into a fine “dust” using a fine grater. Sprinkle the dust atop your favorite dishes to add a flavor boost and a little color, too.

How to Use Jalapeño Dust

While adding a pinch of this jalapeño dust atop your homemade pizza will surely get the job done right, that’s not the only way to go about using this genius hack.

There are multiple ways to use this spicy dust to give your meals a little extra kick. Swap it in for your usual hot sauce when making scrambled eggs in the morning or sprinkle a little over that homemade Mac and cheese you’re enjoying for dinner. Lastly, nothing says the “perfect margarita” without a salt and jalapeño dust rim!
