These easy Christmas wreath cookies are easy to make with just seven ingredients: butter, marshmallow, green food coloring, vanilla extract, cornflakes cereal, and cinnamon candies (or any candies that could serve as "ornaments," such as miniature M&M's).

How to Make Christmas Wreath Cookies

You'll find the full, step-by-step recipe below — but here's a brief overview of what you can expect when you make these top-rated Christmas wreath cookies:

1. Make the Cookie Dough: Melt the butter in a small saucepan, then stir in marshmallows and cook until they're melted. Remove from heat, add the food coloring, then stir in the cornflakes.

2. Shape and Decorate the Cookies: Place the saucepan in very hot water to keep the dough warm and pliable. Set out two sheets of wax paper. Drop the hot dough by tablespoonfuls onto the wax paper and use lightly greased fingers to form wreath shapes. Decorate with candies while still hot. The cookies will set while they cool.

How to Store Christmas Wreath Cookies

Store the finished cookies in an airtight container (after they have completely set). Enjoy them within one week.

Can You Freeze Christmas Wreath Cookies?

Yes! You can freeze these Christmas wreath cookies. Allow them to set, then flash freeze them on a baking sheet. When the cookies are frozen, transfer them to a zip-top freezer bag or another freezer-safe container. Wrap in foil for extra protection. Freeze for up to three months. Thaw in the refrigerator.

Allrecipes Community Tips and Praise

"I have been making these wreaths for years — they have always been my cookie plate showpieces," says Christine. "Don't fret if they don't look like anything at first, just keep your fingers buttered and keep playing with it until you get a decent shape."

"Loved this recipe," raves Amy's Kitchen. "Looks really cute on a cookie plate. When handling them, I sprayed my hands with non-stick cooking spray and it worked like a treat to avoid a mess. I didn't have Red Hots so I used Smarties, then melted white chocolate and drizzled it on top for a 'snow' effect."

"This recipe is such a cute one for the holidays," according to DAYSIE207. "I always give these away as gifts and people love them, and so do I!"
