Ingredients

Original recipe (1X) yields 8 servings

  • 1 cup white sugar

  • cup milk

  • 5 tablespoons shortening

  • 3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder

  • 1 pinch salt

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions

  1. Combine sugar, milk, shortening, cocoa, and salt in a saucepan. Bring mixture to a rolling boil, stirring constantly for 2 minutes.

  2. Remove from heat and add vanilla; beat until frosting is creamy and thick.
