This refreshing raspberry iced tea uses up extra raspberries. I like to serve it in frosty glasses with a sprig of fresh mint.

Ingredients

Original recipe (1X) yields 16 servings servings

  • 1 cup white sugar

  • 1 gallon cold water, divided

  • 1 pint fresh raspberries

  • 2 family-size tea bags, or more to taste

Directions

  1. Bring sugar and 1 cup water to a boil in a saucepan, and boil until sugar is completely dissolved. Remove from heat; add raspberries and tea bags. Crush raspberries slightly with the back of a spoon.

  2. Let tea steep for about 5 minutes, or until tea reaches the strength you desire. Remove tea bags.

  3. Pour mixture through a sieve to strain out raspberries into a 1-gallon pitcher (If you prefer a stronger raspberry flavor, you may skip this step and leave raspberries in). Fill the pitcher with remaining cold water; chill thoroughly before serving, about 1 hour.
